“Excellent Experince!”

This is a wonderful secret tip and i can highly recommend staying at this Hotel.

I was In Kathmandu with My family and we stayed at the Kantipur Temple House for a few nights. It is perfectly tucked away in a side street just a few minutes away from all the Hustle and Bustle one likes to see when visiting Kathmandu. One can feel the Atmosphere the moment when walking through the door. We were welcomed in a spacious entrance with a garden with beautiful flowers. The atmosphere inside the hotel is amazing. It feels very elegant and is decorated with beautiful hand picked tems and very nice lighting. One can feel that it used to be an old temple. It has this sort of Zen Feeling about it. The Hotel has its own organic vegetable garden and does not use any plastic. It is very economical and personally i think that is fantastic. Especially in cities like Kathmadu this awareness to being "good to nature" is a rarity. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the room was very nice. The bathroom, towels and sheets were all spotless and it general it felt very clean. Internet connection was great and breakfast was also very delicious. Once can choose between a buffet or order a la carte. My favourite was the cinnamon yogurt and the Ginger lemon tea - DELICIOUS!!!
The Staff was Very Lovely and helpful and the manger even walked us to the "Seeing hands Clinic" for a divine massage which I can also highly recommend. IT is only 2 minutes walk from the Hotel. We dined one night in the in-house restaurant and got served some amazing local nepalese food and e\ drank australian red wine.
I didn't get to try the 8 am yoga class in the garden but next time i sure will. Next time i come to Kathmandu i will stay here again.

If you are of those who care about protecting the environment and recycling you will be very happy with this place

It was a very nice experince to stay at kantipur house hotel. I felt like am staying with my familly members or my old friends. Smiley faces al oround. So polite and caring crew. I really appreciate when we came late to dinner one day, kitchen was closed they kindly prepared a delicious noudles for my wife.

I really miss those days when I set in the beautiful garden and had my nepaly tea.

Mr. Degambar the manager was very coorporative that he gave us avery nice tour around the place through the shops surrounding the hotel area.

If u want to go there remember to bring ur showergel and your shmpooth.
I would like to thank the Chairman of the restaurant. For his cooperation

Aadi, my 11 year old son and I stayed at the Kantipur Temple house in Kathmandu on our camping and building homes visit to Nepal in August 2013. The experience of selecting the hotel, booking the room, receiving communication from Digambar, the hotel's living mascot :) and arriving there from the airport on a luxury ride organized by Digambar was modern swift with traditional values of human interaction.

The hotel is truly a temple housing Newari architecture, Budhist life approach and Hindu ceremonial celebration of human service. Food cooked with freshest mountain grown vegetables is a gastronomic extravagance, yoghurt is 'Kamadhenu' (a divine cow in Hindu Mythology) udder produce.

Rooms are adorned in ethnic linen print, you will like the brass water pot and glasses....rest needs to be experience not narrated!

Digambhar is a friend you will make for life. I will leave his story with Kantipur for you to extract from him on one of your masala chai evenings in the hotel portico soaking in the sun, blue sky and the red brown hued sculpting all around.

Staff are beautiful, yes beautiful to look and be served by.

In a few words, Kantipur is the embodiment of a Nepal that is still free of 'modern capitalism'

Room Tip: Rooms on level 1 with a view to internal square courtyard will set up your mood for the trip

I really admired the advocacy of the Kantipur Temple House in preserving this beautiful places. They go on plastic free in there services and provides good organic foods. For Temple House, If you are looking for a place to stay and you want to find serenity and tranquility and have a laid back experience ( no A/c's or TV), I recommend this place for you. Staffs are also very helpful and accomodating. Mr. Digamber and Suman are very helpful as they will suggest which place to go and what is the best way to go there. Aside from that, you may find your self strolling inside the hotel and find amazing Nepali architecture and crafts. :)

Rooms are very nice and tastefully decorated. No air conditioning but you actually don't need since the construction is with bricks and the weather during the night is nice to sleep. Fans available in each room. The architecture of the place is fabulous. Traditional construction, beautiful wood work, marble stairs, just amazing. Staff is very friendly, almost everyone speaks good English and are always ready to help. Management strives to make the hotel a green place. Location is perfect, close to Durbar Square, the garden of Dreams, Monkey Temple etc. I loved to stay there and will be back hopefully!

During a month long business trip to Nepal, Kantipur Temple House became my oasis. Kathmandu is very chaotic and this refuge made such a long stay possible. It was a pleasure to return here after a long day of work, to be greeted by the friendly and accommodating staff. The rooms, while basic by american standards, are tastefully decorated and clean. The large garden is a beautiful setting to unwind after a busy day in the city or to enjoy breakfast after a morning yoga class. The rooms overlook a lovely courtyard, which can be a bit noisy in the morning as the staff prepares the restaurant for breakfast, but otherwise are very quiet. I looked at a lot of hotels in Kathmandu before finding this gem hidden away from Thamel's manic main streets. I can't recommend it enough!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. This place really is like an oasis. Kathmandu can feel a bit chaotic at times, and Kantipur hotel was like our getaway - the perfect place to slow down and relax. After sight-seeing in Kathmandu, it was so refreshing to enter into Kantipur's beautiful garden and just sit outside, breathe the fresh air, and chill. The service was top-notch and I also really recommend the food. We had an amazing breakfast each morning, with dishes like buckwheat pancakes, homemade jam, and fresh-made omelette. It was also my first time staying in an eco-friendly hotel and must say that I really appreciate that fact. When you stay at this hotel, you know that you are being a responsible tourist by supporting eco-friendly practices (such as not leaving a trail of plastic behind you by drinking the mineral water provided instead of buying bottled water, re-using towels, etc.). The room was also cozy and had everything we needed. When you come to this hotel, it's like walking into a portal where you can just get away from it all and have a lovely, peaceful, stay. Highly recommended!
