A UNESCO WORLD heritage a must visit for all hindus,I from was there with my wife 21 November to 28 November 2013,but what annoyed us was the guide who tells us what we need to do
( we did not ask for the guide in the first place} the moment we left our van ,this guide followed us ,we were unaware we have to pay for his service until we were about to leave,so those who intend to visit this temple ,do not allow any guide to follow u,if they insist just tell them this is not your first visit.from my observation ,this only happens to foreigners, please be aware ,dont let this guide fleece you.

We visited yesterday. I found it pretty clean and well kept. We were allowed entry to the temple complex because we are Hindu. There are hundreds of monkeys inside the complex as well as a deer park. Take care, not to eat or drink inside or the monkeys may snatch it from you! My niece was drinking juice and one of the monkeys took the juice box from her to drink the rest. Unfortunately the main temple was closed until 430pm, but we were able to pray at the smaller temples that are part of the complex.

It's and amazing holy place where people bring their dead relatives to be cremated. You can see the whole process from start to finish. It may be too much for some, and they do charge about 10 USD at the moment to get in.

A UNESCO world heritage site has been a symbol of Hindu faith since 4th century. Hindus across the world come to Pashupatinath Temple in hope to get free from the cycle of birth and re-birth. The temple is situated at the banks of Bagmati river which also serves as a Hindu cremation ground.
Non-Hindu tourists may be disappointed as the entry inside the temple premises is strictly for Hindus.
Leaving aside the faith and religious significance, i found the premises very dirty and choatic. The priests in various small temples (within the compound) try to rob you by offering customized prayer menu for the happiness and well being of family. Please just ignore them and don't be a fool.
Please take care of the belonging all the time to avoid any unpleasant experience. Use only trusted car services to go around Kathmandu and confirm the fare with cab drivers as they usually befool tourist by asking for Indian Rupee instead of Nepali Rupee.
Have wonderful stay in kathmandu!
