Owner description: Also called Kumari Bahal, this fascinating palace is home to a virgin girl who is worshipped as the goddess Durga in human form. She can sometimes be glimpsed at her windows.

“A little strange”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

It is quite strange to sit there and wait for the 'goddess'. There were strict orders about no cameras--so how did someone get this photo for it??--and people walking around ensuring no one dared. She came to the window and people were astonished. She didn't look happy or enjoy being there. There is a deep culture so there is a need to appreciate their customs but awkward seeing a young girl that seems unhappy.

“No! please stop it!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013

I can understand traditions and different culture but please stop with Kumari! she's just a child and she can't do anything: she can't study, she can't talk to anybody, she can't walk (!!!!), she can't smile (!!!) she lives without her family (!!!), she can't go outside, she has no future! only because they think she's a goddes...c'mon it's 2013! middle age is finished! this is not an attraction, this is torture to a child! please stop it and give her a future!

“Exciting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

Must visit Lumari Bahal on Kumari chowk to experience the sight of living Goddess. This is a unique experience in itself that Goddess is preached in living form. All in all very impressed with the concept. Do take time to read about how the selection process of Kumari is done. A sight of Kumari will surely leave you highly impressed.

If you are lucky, you will catch a glimpse of the goddess. A young girl is chosen to become the goddess. Living godess. Dressed up once a day round 5.30 in evening and show her face at the window. No foto.

Make sure you know all the background about the Kumari before you go. Be prepared to wait to see her, but I was lucky and saw her within minutes.

“A goddess to see”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

If you are lucky, you will catch a glimpse of the goddess. A young girl is chosen to become the goddess. It is not a common thing to see her, but if you time it right, you might get a peak.
