“NIce and Stunning moment wit Kumari”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

I don't think that I could meet Kumari as I don't know whether she would be busy studying inside or I might arrive the Kumari bahal for the wrong time. However, Kumari appears at 4.30 pm. though it was onlt a couple minutes of her existence. But it is long enough for you to be stunning and spiritually nurtured :)

“didn't see her”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

We stood hoping for a glimpse of the Kumari but unfortunately we were there at the wrong time...no photos are allowed anyway so we bought some postcards. Apparently she only comes to the window at certain times of the day and the only people allowed to visit her are Hindu. It would have been nice to see her though!

“Kumari”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Make sure to time your visit when the Kumari comes out on her balcony, and if possible, hire a guide. Kumari Goddesses are very much a part of the history of Durbar Square and there is a certain magic about the story, even if it is difficult for westerners to understand how a young child can be locked away and worshipped as a Goddess. An excellent book to read after your visit is 'From Goddess to Mortal'

“The Place of the Living Goddess.”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

We were in awe of this place. The home of a living goddess. We marvelled at the carved woodwork in the courtyard. Well worth visiting.

“amazing tradition”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

We didn't get to see the living goddess but were given lots of information regarding her by our guide. I was impressed with the intricate carving on the windows and doorways.
