Kopan monastery did not want to let us in, but my tour guide spoke to the guards, then the monks, and they let us in. They had people on a retreat and did not want us to bother them. Nevertheless, they allowed us in to visit the grounds and gardens. A pleasant visit if you can get in.

Everything is just peaceful and calm. It is a great place to relax and find inner peace.
They have a huge library where you can learn more about buddhism

Kopan is fabulous. We visited for the inauguration of the new Stupa. It seems that at Kopan they are experts at making Stupas - each one is more detailed and more beautiful than the last. Lama Zopa Rinpoche was also there so that was a great blessing.

Peaceful, breathtaking, clean - well kept - just amazing! I've been to Kopan twice with friends to worship and to see the place that I had heard so much about. It is a huge monastery, steeped in history. Apparently, one can book and come for meditation retreats - it is just a lovely place on top of a hill - I loved it!
