A very cultural place to visit. Very nice temples and very traditional with the nepalian culture. Worth visiting.

Crowded and dusty like any other place in KTM. Done of the buildings for quite damaged during the 2015 earthquake and area no longer open to public. You need to pay am entrance fee of Rs1000. There are numerous houses offering their services, but you don't really need them as the place is not that big and as long as you read the flyer they provide you at the entrance or have a lonely planet with you, it will be more than enough

I toured it myself and enjoyed the experience.
I would recommend getting a guide as you learn more about the history and culture.
Worth going to if you are staying in Kathmandu

You can see the potential but with all the scaffolding and piles of rubble it is not a great place to visit. Also a tad dangerous witth many buildings dangerously propped up

... still struggling after the earthquake in 2015 but so vibrant. Huge attempts are being made to repair the significant damage but well worth a visit.

A lovely historical part of Kathmandu, very rich in history. Unfortunately the earthquake wasn't so kind here and there is a lot of damaged buildings which is sad especially seeing I saw it a few years back in all its glory. Still worth the visit

Disneyland it is not fortunately and there is a mass of history and character in this somewhat confusing and messy square packed with people and pigeons. It is a untidy and all over the place but quite fascinating and if you like to watch interesting people you will see some here that are picture postcard examples of Nepal. There is an entrance fee of Rupees 1,000 for visitors so if you intend to visit more than once take your ticket to the office behind the white palace and also a mug shot and they will give you a free pass for multiple entry with your photo on it all for free and with a smile. Take a while here as there are some great things to see .
