Owner description: Monuments, temples and wandering animals dot this bustling town square, which is also where Nepal kings are crowned.

Nothing special. Markets, Shopping, Lanes, Traffic. Not exactly the best place to visit.
But again if your a first time traveller to Nepal, make sure you do.

Basantapur is place located very close to Kathmandu. It is mainly popular for its historical structures such as the Darbar Square. There are plenty of food stores around and you can try the authentic local cuisines. It is also known as the 'Old City' or 'City of Old People' since a lot of seniors citizens are seen here. I think we paid NPR 700 to get in. Overall the place is nice and worths a visit if you're in Kathmandu.

We never like the fact they charge people of a different ethnic back ground more money. You can easily go in a back way to access this sight as it is very over priced for such a run down square; the money by the way never seems to make it to the correct hands due to corruption in Nepal so don't feel guilty.

It is the centre of the town that can be interesting to see. the best part was the tall building that you can visit and go to the top and from there see all the city and stay in peace and quiet far from the chaos of Thamel or the busiest roads around.
another place to go is the Kumari Kiosk where, if you are lucky you can see at the balcony the young life goodness
