“A taste of history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

Some fascinating buildings. We also saw the house of the Kumari - a female child who is chosen as the living embodiment of Parvati, the consort of the god Shiva. What this amounts to is imprisoning a child a guilded cage which she is only allowed to leave once per year until she reaches menstruation when another candidate is chosen.

“There are better Durbar Squares.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

In all of Nepal, this was the place we were hassled most, sometimes relentlessly. It did spoil the experience somewhat. The square at Bhaktapur was much nicer.

“History and live”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

The durbar square was one of the memorable things we saw at Nepal, History embedded in the nowaday live. You see that people are around this square doing their business, but respect the things from the past. A must see in Kathmandu
