Loved Durbar Square! Wonderful architecture and history in this part of Kathmandu. Lots of shops and street vendors to pick up some beautiful jewelry and prayer wheels. Don't miss the chance to wander around this wonderful square!

“A must See”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

A good way to spend a few hours in Kathmandu. The Square gets very busy around Mid-Day so an early morning or evening trip is recommended. There`s quite a bit to see- like the Royal Palace, the house of wood (Kasthamandap), the House of the living Goddess (Kumari Chowk) and a few other temples.

“An overpriced venue”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

You do not need to pay the 750 rupees to wander round Durbar Square. Instead why not have a meal in one of the rooftop restaurants overlooking the Square. I also recommend the two walks described in the Lonely Planet guide. They are easy to follow to and from the Square and there are lots of locas who are delighted to steer you in the correct direction.
