After reading the previous reviews I was a little concerned whether Dwarika could be too much "museum like", which I personally don't like (have been in some hotels were time has stood still and that look more like museams than hotels, eg Illyria House in Pretoria, and the experience was terrible). For my relief, in Dwarika the old and new was in a perfect balance. The hotel looks beautiful, the rooms are great. the food is delicious and the service is fabulous! It has charm, it has style and it has modern ameneties.

I have stayed in many luxury hotels around the world and some of them may have been even more luxurious than Dwarika. However, very few, if any, have been more enjoyable!

Dwarikas is definitely one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. All the staff will go out of their way to assist you and the food is magnificent. Not to mention the amazing traditional architecture visible throughout the hotel.

My two daughters and I stayed here for only one night but I so wish it was longer.
It is one of the coolest, most beautiful hotels I have stayed it.
It has separate building on the compound with beautiful woodwork, carvings and lush landscaping.
Brick and stone paths take you around the property and the birds are chirping... It's just heaven.
The food was FANTASTIC at the small Japanese restaurant and also at the two other restaurants.
We stayed in 507 which was great because we could see the city scape. It had a separate tub and shower, plenty of closets, coffee/ tea maker and the beds ( even the extra one ) were super comfy.

They have an ok gym ( wish they had a tv by treadmill) and a cool " yogi" who teaches a very basic ( but fun) yoga class at 7am.

The front desk staff as well as housekeeping were all great too We had just a great time and we would come back in a heartbeat ...
Thanks !

After the noise and dust of most of Kathmandu - or the rigors of trekking in the Himalayas - this is the place to "come home" to. Behind the gated wall is a small paradise - quiet gardens, lovely rooms, and expert service.
A fine restaurant on property - restful public rooms for reading, etc. - intriguing gift shop - and a staff that will take care of all your needs - these are the reasons I have come back here 3 times.
Yes, it is expensive - personally I believe it is totally worth it!

Room Tip: Each room is unique - some quite large, a few quite small. Ask about square footage before being ass...

The hotel's architecture is beautiful and the gardens are gorgeous. The rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. The food is very tasty with ingredients from the owners' farm. Staff was very courteous. The heating was a bit inefficient in many parts of the hotel including the bar. I tried to work in the bar during the day and it was freezing cold. The WiFi system is a bit old fashion. One needs to get a new password from the reception every single day and re-log in. The hotel rates are too high.

This is an excellent choice when staying in the busy city of Kathmandu. The hotel offers 5 starts service, the rooms are clean. We have taken the Junior suite and it over looks the pool. Very nice scenery. That being said, I have once stayed at the Hyatt regency instead and I still think that is the number 1 Hotel in Kathmandu. Dwarika would probably be a close second.

Negatives: 1} the breakfast of the hotel was way below average. the services of the restaurant and the room service quality are below average as well. 2} INTERNET is extremely slow

This is a beautiful experience. The hotel is a testimony of the dedication of Mr. Dwarikas, who spent a lifetime collecting and renovating architectonic details from the area, who are now a part of the hotel. The level of service, attentive, sincere, is as best as it can get anywhere in the world. Only 5 minutes from the airport. Highly recommended if you go to Kathmandu,
