Kathmandu is a crazy, chaotic city. But hidden within it is a beautiful oasis of tranquility and beauty. The Dwarikas style is typical Nepali with 5 star comfort and excellent food. The courtyard where breakfast is served is picturesque. The staff are very helpful and very friendly. Some of the rooms (older ones) have a musty smell from the shower but ours was fine. We stayed here twice - before and after our trek and without a doubt we would stay here again.

Just stayed here for two nights after a three week trek and it was absolute heaven! An absolutely stunning retreat in the heart of an incredibly chaotic city and as soon as you arrive, you feel a million miles away. Beautiful courtyard grounds and pool, and fabulous bars and restaurants dotted all around. Fusion bar did amazing cocktails and the signature Nepali restaurant was an amazing experience. The spa was lovely and my husband and I both enjoyed the Himalayan Trekkers Massage (much needed!) The rooms were stunning - absolutely massive and so luxurious. Staff were fabulous and service was excellent. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and it gave us a truly relaxing, luxurious and romantic end to our trip. Fabulous!

We stayed at the Dwarikas for two nights at the end of October 2012 in one of the suites. It was a marvellous and very spacious suite. All the positives things you read in the other reviews about the nice and friendly staff, the good service, the beautiful premises and so on, we can absolutely confirm. Bare in mind that this is Nepal, so we rated it excellent. Would this hotel be in a western part of the world, we would complain about stains in sheets and towels, the quality of used materials, the very hard beds and the cleanliness, but that goes for all top notch hotels in Nepal.

Room Tip: Just book a suite!

I have just returned from a fantastic 4 day visit to Kathmandu and opted to stay in the Dwarika hotel thanks to the great reviews on trip advisor.

The hotel is in a good location for seeing the wonders of the city and is designed in traditional Nepali style. The rooms are large, clean and boast all the comforts you would expect from a 5* hotel. The grounds of the hotel are very nice, with a lovely swimming pool, hindu/budist shrines and plenty trees and plants to offer a nice escape from the hustle and bustle outside.

The service is good and the food fantastic - I tried the 12 course Nepalese meal - V.Nice!

Only one downside was a minor hickup with my pre-arranged airport pick up, as the hotel pick up did not show and I was left to get a taxi from the airport. They made up for this however with a free airport drop off.

All in all, I would very much promote this hotel as a great place to stay.

Much in the middle of Kathmandu this 5* Hotel is more like a medieval city...
The doors open and inside is a little city comprised of Hotel wings and restaurants and open space and pool and garden and and and....all made in the same medieval look and actually using antique woods gathered when other housing is dismantled.
We had been traveling in other 5* Hotels in India and this was one of the best ! Definitely the best in Kathmandu..
Recommended and organized by our Tour agency Earthbound Expeditions.
5* Hotel and 5* to the Tour agency !!

First time in Nepal with my family and we were lucky that we booked Dwarik Hotel... loved the food, atmosphere and the well trained staff ... we felt safe and secure... the only thing that they don’t have is the kids activity which for us it didn’t matter that much since we were out all day long … but still we would love to see some kids facilities in the Hotel… but in general we had an amazing time and we would love to go back.. we highly recommend it ...

We stayed here for one night at the end of our tour and it was a great place to relax and unwind before the long trip home. A beautiful modern hotel built from 'recycled' materials, including carved windows, doors and furniture. Huge rooms; attentive staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Quiet but conveniently located near the airport and only a 250 rupee ride from Thamel. Expensive by Nepal, but not global, standards. Pool was a bit chilly but everything else was excellent.
