“Amazing hotel in the middle of Kathmandu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

Upon walking into this property you will immediately know that this is no ordinary hotel.
The grounds and architecture are spectacular.
Painstakingly reproducing and restoring the original carvings of this area, was the intention of the owner, whom at passing left the legacy in the hands of his wife and daughter who took the project to completion.
Even if not lucky enough to be staying here,it is worth the visit to see this spectacular hotel.
The restaurants are equally impressive, especially Krishnapan with it's 21 course dinner,(we quit at 12!)
Not to be missed~!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the back where monkeys from the nearby temple could come into open windows and empty...

An oasis of calm in the middle of busy, bustling, grimy Kathmandu. All the tension leaves you as you walk through the door into the reception area. It's a beautiful building with wonderful wood carvings and impeccable interior details. The staff are friendly and helpful but never obsequious or over-attentive - just ring the bell on your courtyard table and someone appears to take your order.

The rooms are spacious, well appointed and comfortable. There are handmade biscuits, fruit and water to welcome you in and the nightly turn-down service arrives with a little plate of chocolates for your delectation.

OK, the restaurant's not cheap but the service is good and the food varied and tasty.

Room Tip: I think maybe all the rooms are good ... Our room overlooked the internal courtyard.

We absolutely loved this hotel. Its beautifully restored buildings provide an area of tranquility in the heart of Kathmandu, the gardens are lovely, the rooms decadent, service excellent. My only quibble is the prices in the bars and restaurants, but I wouldn't hesitate to go to this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone.

Like a lotus flower , the Dwarika's emerges in the middle of Katmandu, beside the Himalayas
It was the best thing I ever experienced in Nepal. It is an experience by it's own. Coming back to it was a relief. If you can afford it, and it is not so expensive why would you stay in another 5 star hotel? Where you wake up not knowing where you are? Here the rooms have character.

28 years since my last visit to Nepal and enormous changes to the city - a noisy, bussling, diry, fun metro city from which Dwarika's is an oasis of peace, calm and hospitality. Quirky and thorughly eclectic. Lovely central courtyard with pool and adjacent restaurant. Rooms characterful and comfortable. Good food, only downside is relative distance from central Kathmandu

This totally unique retreat is pure escapism. You won't want to leave!
Accommodation, food and staff all great. Will definitely return. We did the summer deal which made it better value too.
It's a bit further out of the centre but 5-10 mins in cab is easy and defiantly worth it for the extra luxury.
A boutique hotel mixed with world heritage status. Wonderful!

I am writing this review nearly two years after we stayed here as have only just realised that we didn't review the hotel at the time. Dwarika hotel took our breath away-especially when we first walked into our room. It had so much traditional character and charm. We also stayed at the Hyatt and, whilst we really loved that hotel as well, this is far more unique. You should stay here-even if only for one night.
