I was in Kathmandu for a business trip and stayed at the Yak & Yeti hotel. It was a great experience. The overall experience was magnificent and i will return back for pleasure as well as business and would prefer to stay at Yak & Yeti.
The room was good with good services, the food was excellent, i stayed for two weeks and came back with fond memories. The hotel is centrally located, so you can walk to major attractions in Kathmandu viz. the new market (for shopping), government office were near too which reduced my commute time and the King's palace is walking distance from the hotel.
The Hotel also has a casino and you can unwind there in the evening. Taxis can be found very easily on hire for sight seeing within Kathmandu and surrounding attractions. One can negotiate with the chauffeur for whole day engagement. Indian rupees (denominations 500 or 100) work too in case of emergencies.
The food was excellent with choicest delicacies in dinner as well as breakfast. The buffet offered was reasonable and gourmet.
One thing i was unhappy about was the internet services and the business center. I had to take whole day internet connection which was intermittent and of poor reliability, the connectivity at the business center was also slow.
the Hotel in itself is grand and you can take a walk in gardens and the market nearby which offer many choices of foods and shopping options.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool or garden give a tranquil feeling

It's a nice hotel for Kathmandu. I was there on business. The rooms are comfortable, if not a bit dated, and generally clean. The hotel has this feeling of a place that used to be quite grand, and is still well maintained, but has just aged overall without updating.

The refrigerator in my room was broken and they sent someone several times to come fix it, but never replaced it--it was still not functioning properly after two weeks, but had been fixed to the point of keeping my water bottles "almost cool-ish".

The conference facilities are fine, though again dated. And there is WiFi, but it is ridiculously slow (as is internet in Kathmandu generally). So many of the issues I have with the hotel are issues that Nepal faces generally, so overall I would rate is pretty highly for the area. The breakfast buffet is quite top notch and the staff is quite friendly and ready to help.

All in all, I would stay here again. It's probably one of the nicest in the area and if you are finishing up a trek, I would imagine it's just heaven. Nice, well-kept grounds and a decent little pool.

On a side-note, I would absolutely suggest a visit to the NORTH Korean restaurant that is right in front off the parking lot from the hotel. The food is excellent, the waitresses adorable, and the continually playing Kim Jong Il propaganda videos are ... interesting. (Note to fellow Americans, say you're Canadian--why risk it?)

Room Tip: Ask for recently renovated or non-smoking rooms...unless, of course, you smoke.

After trekking for several days, we were thrilled to stay here. Just wish it could have been longer. Our entire stay- room, staff, restaurant- was wonderful with no complaints. It was a welcome respite from the teahouses on our trek. The lunch buffet was awesome, with lots of fresh vegetables, and Iced tea!! With real, safe ice! The location was perfect for walking around the area. The beauty salon comes highly recommended. I needed my haircut while I was there. It had been suggested to do this at a 5 star hotel, and I did, though very nervous. The woman did a great job! Would come back here in a heartbeat!

Clean, friendly staff, close to restaurants and shops. Great pool and great crowd. It's a huge jumping off point for Himalayan trekkers and climbers. Breakfast buffet is good, not great. Beautifully manicured garden.

Left my bag there for 3 weeks while I trekked to Everest Base Camp. No charge and everything was there when I returned. Speaks volumes to me.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the garden are quite nice.
