Paid 70 usd per night. Waay ovrvalued. Dingy clean rooms. No heating. Breakfast buffet was amazing for the first couple of nights with fresh chappati and traditional curry. But then scaled back to very stale breads and continental fare. Eat the fruit salad and omletes, dont bother with anything else. We stayed here with ACE the Himalaya.. staff were polite and helpful. Easy to leave lugguage at the hotel for trekking. Cleaners especially lovely, always saying namaste with a smile. TVs in spacious rooms. Wifi is extra but reasonably priced. Tap water is yellow in colour (ok with aquatabs). Lucky to get a warm shower, best bet is to try in the evening.

We stayed here for an extended period after a bout of Altitude sickness whilst hiking the Everest Base Camp.

The staff were courteous and friendly for the duration of our stay and our room was exactly what we needed.

The upgrade to the deluxe suite was well worth it for an extended stay as the suite provides a lot of extra space.

The location is fantastic for Thamel although at night's can sometimes be a little noisy. Earplugs could be an option.

All in all a very nice stay back in Kathmandu!

We stayed at Vaishali in Nov 2012. Right from Day #1, this particular girl staff from the Reception was unpleasant, unfriendly and had an attitude problem. When we requested for a particular room, she made a face at us. We would drop our key at the Reception every time we went out and when we came back to retrieve the key, she would make a face at us again as if we were giving her extra work to do! She was pretty though... If only she would smile more and be more pleasant.
On our 2nd night, we requested for a flask of hot water. A staff came up after 1 hour with a glass of warm water. We explained that we wanted a thermos flask of hot water... It never arrived.
At the restaurant on the ground floor, the supervisor they call Ram Sir was totally rude and unprofessional in telling us that the meals we ordered would not be included in our tour package. It was the waiter, Badri, who very courteously and politely told us not to worry about it and we could have what we ordered. The supervisor never came back to clarify or apologise.
We couldn't wait to get out of there.

Vaishali is one of the best options when you stay in Kathmandu.Located in Thamel main tourist area where nightlife is everywhere and good bargain during the day is must.
This property is popular with the foreigners, mostly European and prices are generally Ok.
Rooms are big,but with old furniture and need refurbishment
Staff is generally OK,with no languague problems and always ready to assist even for smallest
request.Breakfast was great, but if you want to drink coffee better check some bars outside.
When in Kathmandy next time i will stay here for sure.

This hotel is in Thamel area of Kathmandu. Great location at a reasonable price. Beds were a little on the firm side but just add your sleeping pad under it a no problem. Friendly staff ready to serve you.

We go to Kathmandu every year. The 5 last years we have been staying in this hotel. The rooms are spacious with all the accomodation that we need.
We have business in Thamel, and this hotel are close to everything that we need. We are always staying in a suite cause then we allways have power in our room. We think this hotel is exellent, thats why we allways come back to this hotel every year. The service is good, and we will be back. We will recommend this hotel.
