If you are into retro 1960s 1970s decor you will love this hotel . However as it is in its original state , the reality does not make for a comfortable stay . To be fair the room was large and lots of light . Better than 2 other hotels in Kathmandu I hv stayed in.
Sleep comfort - ultimately one of the most important things -poor as mattresses thin and hard , and disco music pounding nearby
Value- usd 100 which is not too bad for Kathmandu but expensive in reality Given the age of the place
Lifts - only 1 working and looks like its falling apart so we used the stairs . About 100 rooms using 1 lift for 5 persons max
Breakfast - buffet in basement in what can best be described as perfunctory cafeteria . Horrible tasteless coffee , soggy fruit and pastries that tasted like it was past due date . It was a bit of a shock and loooked like a firetrap . We had breakfast just down the toad after that everyday in the hotel Mandap illy coffee cafe .
The only good thing about the hotel was that it was in the heart of thamel and close to our favorite illy cafe .
These hotels can get away with this as there had been no investment in new hotels for a while
I stayed in this hotel for the second time. The location of the hotel is very good . The staff are very cooperative. The rooms were very spacious with all latest amenities. For the breakfast it's like home away from home. I think this is only the hotel in thamel with swing pool . I would love to stay again next time also.
This hotel is located in the heart of Thamel the tourist area. Easy to walk to anywhere and shopping and bars. The rooms are adequate but the bathrooms are terrible mould everywhere and hard to get hot water. The staff have been good and the breakfast very good would highly recommend the omelette they have this down perfect. No safes in the room but have safety deposit boxes downstairs. 6 floors but lifts mostly work. Worth it for a short stay and no major electricity issues and the room has a damp smell. The back room does cop some noise from a disco or music bar. The beds are hard but it seems to be the norm in this part of the world.
Right in the heart of Thamel, this hotel's location is excellent - within a couple of minutes walk from bars, cafes and lots of shops. It is actually on a quiet road - by Kathmandu standards - though so there was no problem with noise at all. Rooms are a bit dated and the first one we stayed in had a fair amount of damp in the bathroom but otherwise the hotel is comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Recommended as a good base for exploring Thamel before or after a Himalayan trek!
This hotel is located in Heart Of Thamel, so no need to walk so long for anything, every thing is available very close to you. The Owner and the Staff both are very helping.
Good Stay.. enjoy your trip here.
