“BAD EXPERIENCE”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

We booked Radisson Kathmandu from 29.05.13 to 30.05.13 and again on 02.06.13. But after staying for one day at Radisson, we had to cancel our booking from there and move to a better hotel. Rooms are very small, not very tidy...linens were also smelly. We ordered dinner in our room for our 5 yr son at 8.30 pm and were served our food at 10.45 pm in the night and we had to make efforts to keep our son awake. On top of it, our son started vomiting after having the food (Paneer tikka and naan). In the morning, when we complained about the whole thing to the duty manager and asked for check-out, the management was least concerned about the same. They even had the audacity of charging us for the "Dinner". Not upto the name of RADISSON...

I stayed as part of a group tour, it certainly was nice to come back to the Western comforts of the Radisson at the end of a Kathmandu day and after our trek. The pool and rooms were nice. Service was good. The buffets were great. Pool bar very overpriced and slow service.
By Nepal standards this is deluxe but unfortunatly for the price I dont think it can justify a luxury price-tag, it generally feels a little dated.

A friend and I stayed at The Radisson Hotel at the begining and the end of our Nepali Trek. We walked the Annapuna Circuit and had 21 nights in a tent. Four nights at the hotel was part of our expedition and we felt we were very well received and well looked after by the staff.
The rooms were certainly a little "Tired", but compared to life out of the hotel grounds we were in luxury. The rooms were very clean , and the food was amazing and hygiene was exemplory. Perhaps the wine could have been cooler!
The hotel was very central and we could walked to interesting sights and shopping areas.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Stayed here for a few nights as part of a group tour originating in Kathmandu. Granted that Kathmandu is rapidly slipping down the development ladder, but this hotel really could do better. The rooms are very tired and a bit on the tatty side. Overall they are not bad, but for the price charged they should be better. Generally speaking the staff is friendly, but there were two problems that lead for cause for concern about staying here.

Firstly, one of the fellow group members of the tour had some extra charges appear on her credit card whilst in Kathmandu. This hotel was the only place she used it. Not good, to say the least.

Secondly, I had a small amount of cash disappear from my room. This was contained inside a closed bag. It was only 10 dollars, but the point is a staff member had gone into my bag and found it and took it. When I informed reception they said they would check the security cameras. That was it...

Lastly, I got ill from the breakfast buffet there. Not what one would hope for in a 5 star hotel.

Overall, I find it difficult to recommend staying here given the experiences outlined above. Would you be comfortable staying in a place like this?

The hotel tries to keep its tradition of Radisson Hotel's quality service. Conveniently located a few minutes away from the airport, it is a deep contrast to the rough, dirt roads under construction and the varied standards of facilities outside its compound. The food is absolutely wonderful; buffets overflowing with choices and allowing one a taste for Nepalese culture. Rooms are clean, well-furnished and extremely comfortable as maintained by very helpful staff. The limited wifi connection is rather troublesome though for those travelling on official business.

Room Tip: Take a room on the uppermost floors to get a glimpse of the HImalayas

Small rooms- with chipped wooden floor
Inefficient staffs
And a major security risk if you are with Family.

On 19/5 night- there was 6-7 drunk person was shouting in front of my room in corridor- banging on my door. I had informed the reception- they told " security camera can help only after 4 hours to check back what happened". I left my visiting card while leaving next day - but that 4 HOURS is yet to be completed.

Got to know their Casino Rad is shut down because of non payment of tax - last couple of months.

This booking done through CLEARTRIP.COM - so it is a question about the portal too!

Room Tip: Suggesting not to expect a 5 star treatment

I stayed in this hotel in April, it was well situated in such a chaotic city, relatively near the main attractions, although the streets are under construction, dirty, so any adventure by foot will be very hard.
The facilities are great, the food is excellent, the breakfast is plenty and varied, considering Nepal is a very poor country.
Staff was helpfull, the room was spacious and wifi was free, what turned to be a difficult issue in that region of the world.
