Radisson Hotel Kathmandu
Ranked #66 of 207 Hotels in Kathmandu

I have stayed here twice this year. Its a nice hotel, not stunning or heritage or any of those things, but very good as a basic good quality hotel in central Kathmandu. I had a room on the 'business floor' (first floor) and the room was impressive and pleasant, with a view out over the lobby roof to the courtyard. The staff are polite and well organised. I ate at the main restaurant one night; the food choice there is a bit limited although both times I have eaten there this year the dinner has been very enjoyable.

I spent 3 nights in this hotel and would like to say that I really enjoyed the stay. The room was good, with WI-Fi making way for my work to be done in room. The hotel staff at each level was very courteous and helpful specially the lady at the reception. The food is good but had to manage with the same menu buffet for breakfast. However I am of the view that this may be very good place to stay by a single or for couple.

Room Tip: I was in 2nd floor front side and for me that was a good place.

Considering the country you are in and the region of the world, it is one of the best in Kathmandu. Yes there are a few bugs that i saw at night only, however the rooms are very clean. they are cleaned everyday if you want. Service is great, food in restaurant is excellent.

One tip for getting rid of bugs, always bring with you a small bottle of cedar essential oil. just pour a few drops of oil in a small spray bottle and mix a bit with water. U just have to spray along the walls of your room and bathroom on the floor, it will deter the insects. You can do the same on your mattress if u want. I always do this when i travel.

Room Tip: Always check your room before moving in.

Spent five nights here in late September 2011. Decent room on fouth floor rear but right over the covered, outdoor banquet area. Events pretty much end at 11pm but if you want to get to sleep early, find another location in the hotel. Staff was friendly and polite. Response to a request to fix faulty TV reception was excellent. Food in the buffet was average at best. Located relatively close to Thamel for those who wish to explore this area.

Myself and my partner stayed here for 5 nights.

On the first two nights we were given room 211 on level two. The view was terrible and there were many bugs coming out from cracks in the floor. However when we returned to the hotel a few days later we were given room 420 on the fourth floor facing the other direction. The view was wonderful and there were no issues with bugs entering into the room. The only downfall was that the shower head didn't work properly, the shower tap fell off and the tv quality was not great.

Whilst the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of food not all the options were always available, maybe as our visit was during peak season and there were many people eating. Dinner and lunch was over priced, particularly in comparison to the quality and price of food in Thamel.

The hotel has a great free wifi system for those staying. However whilst i was waiting in the lobby (as I had a late flight out of Kathmandu), I asked the lady at the reception desk for a wifi card whilst I was waiting for my airport transfer, she informed me politely but with great disdain that it is not hotel policy to give out wifi coupons after checking out, however, she would give me one on this occasion.

Whilst half of the staff here are wonderful and helpful, the other half treat you with disdain.

Overall this hotel is nice by Kathmandu standards, however, the quality of its food, rooms and appliances may not meet some western standards. It is in close proximity to Thamel which is convenient.

Whilst our stay was ok on average I may try and stay elsewhere if I visit Kathmandu again.

By Kathmandu standards, it's near the top of the heap. By international standards, it's at best a middling option. Decent rooms, nothing ever quite perfect. Staff shows a pleasing level of disdain for guests. Breakfast buffet high quality. The Corner Bar is an fantastic little place for a drink, with staff who are simply outstanding.

I am just ending my second stay of several weeks at the Radisson Kathmandu between July and September 2011. On both occasions, it has been very friendly, efficient and most of all I truly relished the fabulous cuisine in the Olive Garden, and the entirely decent cuisine in the "Fun Cafe". The staff go out of their way to listen to the customers and be helpful. But the highlight of every evening after a long day's work was to sit in the Olive Garden restaurant and enjoy Rupak's world class cuisine. Rupak goes out of his way to prepare imaginative, beautifully presented, well coordinated and exquisitely tasty dinners that would hold their own compared to any first-class restaurant in Europe or North America. Very highly recommended.
