We chose this hotel largely based on the reviews we had read on Tripadvisor and were glad we did. We spent three nights here in early November. I would be hard pressed to find any fault with this hotel-especially given the conditions in which it operates. We had a top floor room which overlooked the pool and the stupa. The location is closer to the airport than to town, which we actually preferred. Cabs are prevalent and extremely cheap in Nepal so you can get anywhere in the city for just a few dollars. Getting to Thamel from the Hyatt costs only a few dollars. The only negative may be that the breakfast room gets extremely busy and seemed chaotic on most days-although the food was very good. In summary, I can't imagine there are many other hotels in Kathmandu that can match this hotel for standard and price.

I was expecting this hotel to be your regular tall USA Hyatt hotel, but it exceeded all my expectations.
This hotel is beautiful surrounded by pools, and gardens. In the lobby it has 9 stupas that were blessed by Tibetan monks. This is an oasis from the chaos outside its walls.
The hotel is full of beautiful details, bowls with flowers and candles everywhere!

7 minute walk to the biggest stupa of the world.

The staff is friendly, food is great. Amazing hotel!

Room Tip: We stayed at a suite in the top floor. View of the biggest stupa of the world was great from our gigantic terrace.

I ended up feeling happy we stayed here. Thamel is fun, crowded and a bit crazy and returning to the Hyatt immediately helped us to relax.

The grounds are beautiful and the cab to Thamel was usually 350-450 rupees.

The service at breakfast was outstanding and the food was good. Food also good at Roxx, but a hair pricey.

The rooms are large and comfortable. We found them a little stuffy and had a problem because the air system only pushed out heat (no a/c in winter). We opened the windows but Kathmandu is quite smokey, even at night.

Overall a wonderful option outside of Thamel.

Expected alot more from hyatt. Sure the deco and premises are nicely done up but reception staff were really unfriendly. Did not even look us in the eye when we were talking to them and checking us in. The guy at the desk informed us it was 15Usd for 1 day of wifi access but their website said it was first 24 hours complimentary. We had also requested an extra bed in our booking which they forgot to setup in the room. Really felt like a big hotel without the personal touch. Rooms were alright, but I believe service can be improved on greatly.

The Hyatt is fairly new and is a very good, if not-at-all-adventurous option in Kathmandu. The hotel is a little way outside the city center (although by no means out of the sprawl, noise, or smog), and is everything you'd expect from a mid-upscale chain hotel. Staying here is in effect insulating yourself form the world outside, but that may be what you want.

We got a club room, which was perfectly nice. It had a good king bed and a powerful shower, so I guess you can't really ask for more. The club lounge has a nice coctail service in the evenings with good appetisers. Food options here are, well big Western resort food options. They have an itialian restaurant and a large buffet restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast at the buffet restaurant, which has an extensive selection of both with multiple dishes to fit all tastes and cultures. All in all a very good hotel.
