Trekking in Nepal and decided to spoil myself on my last couple days with a 5 star hotel. I slept in a lot of interesting and basic rooms trekking for an average of $5 a night but none so filthy as this. Little did I know this would ruin an almost perfect trip. The room they gave me was 1 star quality. The stench from the mold in the room was overwhelming, everything was dirty. When I complained and asked the Manager to come to the room and verify my observations he refused. From other reviews I have read the mold and smell issues are well documented. I was offered an upgraded room for $40 more per night and since they already had my money I had no choice. I paid for a slightly better room that still smelled of mold with garage sale furniture and old linins. The price I ended up paying was the same as the Yak and Yeti which is a beautiful place and truely a 5 star establishment. The breakfast buffet was good and aside from the Manager as with pretty much every Nepali the staff was very nice. Stay away!

The hotel is very well located in central Kathmandu but does not have an ounce of the hospitality from the Taj group that owned it earlier. Rooms were comfortable and had old fittings. The bathroom had a musty smell, the carpets were run down. But the food was surprisingly good. Not friendly staff, since one of them snatched the Indian newspaper from my hand and the restaurant manager forbid me to pick up the paper from the restaurant. Appalling hospitality.

Stayed at the Annapurna for a total of 4 nights during October in between trips. While the rooms could use updating I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Very friendly service and the food at the Coffee Shop as well as the food in the Chinese restaurant are excellent. Great breakfast buffett. Walking distance to Thamel. Huge pool. Will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Kathmandu.

We just returnd from Nepal. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. I liked the hotel very much especially for the good service & the pleasant & efficient staff. The hotel is catagorized as a 5* hotel - we stayed in a standard room - the room is more like a 3* hotel room in Europe but maybe the catagories in Nepal are somewhat different. The room & all the hotel is clean although the bathroom is somewhat shabby. The price we got the room for was very fair - we booked through a Nepalic agent who was very useful & decent. His mail is (---). One can arrange everything through him. The breakfast includes mostly a cooked buffet - oriental food. Bread seems to be a problem in Nepal but ther is toast.
The hotel has a good location - walking distance from the Thamal area although when dark - it is better to take a bike- riksha to there. On the street there are 2 fast food restaurants.
They have a cake shop- cakes are half price between 20:30-22:00. The hotel has a large swimming pool.
I will like to come back to Nepal & to this hotel.
