First of all, location because Thamel is full of places that are hard to find! From Hot Breads, walk past the Roadehouse and Helenas to the end of the street and turn right. The Green Olive is about 2 blocks up on the left and is in a quieter section of Thamel which is a refreshing change.
Being in Kathmandu for a month I tried A LOT of restaurants and the Green Olive is definitely a top favourite, in part because of the beautiful garden terrace which is so nicely decorated and simply lovely. As well, their Indian food is excellent...the thali is huge and delicious and I love that they use the stainless steel sectioned plates like in India. And their dal makhani is one of my favourites ever (even after being in India for 4 months) so that says a lot. I love love loved it!!! The staff are super friendly, the service great, prices quite low compared to other places in Thamel and with the extras..karaoke and live bands on certain nights, plus shisha..this is the place to be!!!!!
