One would only think of tourist visits to Nepal, but some actually travel there for work. When you would have engagements in Kathmandu, the Hotel Tibet International is a great hotel to stay.

We stayed there with a group of 25 and also hosted a dinner event there. Nice rooms, great staff and a really good cook. You can walk to the Hyatt in 5 minutes, if you would be having a conference there.

Important for the business traveler: good backup generator and internet available for free.

Highly recommended, for tourists as well as business travelers the like.

Room Tip: I had a street room and it was quiet enough for me with double glass windows, but some prefer the ro...

Beautiful hotel set in the heart of Kathmandu. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, well equipped and very well maintained. The staff are kind, attentive and efficient. Next time we are in Kathmandu, we will definitely stay there. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Hotel Tibet International with the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers and found that the Staff was highly supportive of our needs. We were welcomed with a warm and generous feeling and left grateful and saddened to say farewell to newfound friends (the staff). It was so wonderful to stay at a location so close to the Boudanath Stupa and be able to circumambulate daily with the local people. The rooms were clean, neat, and comfortable. The showers were hot and a generator turned on as the electricity went out in the city. As we entered the hotel the staff brought us warm washcloths and honey mint tea to refresh as they brought our bags to our rooms. Oh, the comfort in such beautiful kindness!

Room Tip: Choose a room not on the side of the street for the noise!

My experience at Hotel Tibet International was simply wonderful. This is the best find in a high quality hotel in Kathmandu. The location was incredible just across the street from Boudanath Stupa, affording almost instant access to one of Kathmandu's cultural treasures. The view from the roof top restaraunt was also unbelievable as it literally overlooks Bouda. The rooms were superb, new and incredibly clean and comfortable. The staff was caring and well educated in the needs of travelers. Simply the best is what I have to say.

HTI is a very good place to consider, whether you are a first -time visitor, or an "old Nepal hand" who hasn't been here since they finally opened, after a long building period. For starters, forget Thamel (unless you are younger than 25). It's awful, really. Hectic, congested, full of touts. Boudha is an oasis by comparison. The streets are jammed; but with real people: locals, recent migrants from the hills, pilgrims, foreign students of the dharma -- all attracted to the sacred site of Boudha Stupa, and the 40+ monasteries in the area. It's very close to the airport; and abundant taxis can zip you into the heart of Kathmandu in 15-20 minutes. While HTI is expensive by 'backpacker' standards, it is cheaper than the nearby Hyatt or Dwarika's hotels. It doesn't have the setting or sprawling grounds of some of KTM's 5 star spots; but the rooms are every bit as good. The staff is warm, attentive and very well-trained. Restaurant food is good... not great. They are basically feeding their guests well, not looking for a separate food-only clientele. You wouldn't make a trip just for the restaurant. But there aren't many hotels where you would.

Room Tip: ASk for a room on the north side -- stupa view.

In November of 2012, I was at the Hotel Tibet International with the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers and the Center For Sacred Studies, over 80 people treated like royalty by the owner of the hotel and her staff.

In February of 2013 I returned to a zealous welcome and once again was treated like royalty.

I would recommend a stay at the Hotel Tibet International in a heartbeat and look forward to returning soon.

A very nice hotel in the heart of the Boudhanath neighborhood of Kathmandu, Tibet International has style that is rare in smaller hotels in the region. My room was comfortable, cozy and spacious enough. The views from the roof terrace are superb, over the city and the airport to the mountains. The breakfast, combining Western and Nepali fare, superb. Highly recommended.
