I have stayed at Shree Lal three times now and I would never stay anywhere else in Kathmandu due to their fantastic hospitality, service and because the restaraunt downstairs serves some of the best food I've ever eaten (I've tried almost everything). The big set meal for 250Rps is so giant and delicious I really just want one right now.

We visited Nepal in March 2014 and discovered this restaurant when we looked for a pure vegetarian place. Though the place is small the hospitality is very large. The owners Mrs Shanti and Mr Ritwik were very warm and friendly. The food was one of the best we had in Nepal. Their Thali meals and Sukka Roti with curries were excellent.

After having dinner there we discussed with Shanti our tentative plans for a week-long vacation in Nepal. She helped us with the logistics and the quoted rates were quite reasonable. She arranges things pretty good and then follow up also is another important trait. To site an example when we were coming back after the sunset tour the vehicle broke down. We were some eight tourists from different parts of India. When I informed Shanti about this she virtually called up the owner of the vehicle and saw that a substitute vehicle reached us within an hour. Where as none of the other tourists were assisted like this by their hosts. Kudos to Shree Lal and the people behind the establishment.

If you love authentic home cook instead of going to restaurants that have fancier decorations and serve mediocre European food for Westerners, this place is your great choice!

It's cheap, fast ( dont have to wait 30 mins+ for your meals), and very very delicious!!!

We ordered two big combo set ( only 250 Rps each), and the meal includes 5 different Veg dishes ( Spanish tofu, eggplant, red beans, potato caulieflowers, cheese curry), rice pudding, yogurt, salad, dal soup, rice and roti&papadum. HUGE PORTION. EVERYTHING is very tasty and delicious; and all dishes are refillable( free!!!)

When we arrived around 7pm-ish, it was empty, but then all tables were quickly filled up by locals. Cant go wrong if all the locals eat in at this restaurant! The lady at the reception and the waiter were very friendly, attentive and kept mentioning to us dont be hesitated to top-up whatever dish we desire more.

Highly recommanded to anyone who enjoys authentic Indian cuisine!!!
