“Poor hotel and disinterested management”
Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here during our trip to Nepal, The hotel is very basic, I could put up with that but when we checked in the sheets weren't clean, there was no hot water and there were cockroaches. The management didn't seem particularly bothered about sorting any of this out.

I stayed here on a tour and the room was fine and the staff were fine, and the food was okay...

But to be honest, I probably wouldn't stay here if I made the booking myself. It felt a bit impersonal, but that's probably because it was full of tour groups.

Sleep was difficult, but that's just Kathmandu. Dogs will bark all night long, people will sing at 3am, that's life.

Room Tip: All rooms are not created equal here. I got a "not great" room for the first night, was to...

I stayed at the Thamel Eco Lodge for a couple of nights recently and I liked it a lot. The room was spacious and clean, with a lovely hot shower. The breakfast was pretty good and ALL the people were friendly and polite. Couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Kathmandu. I will be back, and totally recommend it. We stayed here for one night at the start of our trip and again for our last night. The hotel is in a good central location and down a quiet lane so you are away from the immediate hustle and bustle of the street.

We ate there on our first night and they had a good selection of food in an evening buffet. Breakfast again had a good range to fill you up for the morning. In Nepal there are regular power cuts and when this happened they were quick to sort it out. Throughout the hotel there is free wifi.

After staying twice we realised that the rooms on the right side of the courtyard are of a much better standard and quality than the rooms on the left side.

Room Tip: Rooms on the right side of the courtyard are better quality than those on the left side of the court...

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is nice and clean, with a view of the garden from our room. Room was comfortable. The food in the restaurant was average. There were a few rolling blackouts, but they were quickly fixed (and they happen everywhere in Nepal!!).

We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful stay. Staffs were great and helpful. Very handy and was good value for money with an excellent breakfast and Wi-Fi included. Room was clean, comfortable and just what we expected. We were within walking distance to restaurant and shops. Would definitely stay here again.

Our tour company booked us at this hotel before and after our trek. The word "resort" is an absolute joke. The rooms are spacious but basic. The WiFi was unreliable. The cable was in jeopardy of being cut because the hotel hadn't paid it's bill. (You should know that there are frequent power outages in Thamel at all businesses.) Worst of all, there were tons of little green ants on the bedsheets in both rooms where we stayed. The staff was not very attentive, and we did not receive the same level of service as we did at other comparable hotels in Nepal.

We can't recommend staying here.
