“Comfortable and Convenient”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

Went to Kathmandu through the Welcome Nepal Treks and Tour. The tour provided the Eco Resort for the 3 nights at Kathmandu. The Rooms are comfortable and Clean. Good and delicious breakfast was provided by the hotel. It has a nice garden in the front. Near to shops where tourists can do shopping. It has a good and affordable spa. try out the Nepali Massage. For yoga lovers, the hotel has yoga classes too. Food at the restaurant is affordable and good. Try the Chicken Briyani.

Room Tip: Take the Deluxe room on the top floor. Bathrooms are bigger.

I stayed at the Thamel Eco Resort for 5 nights, before and after a trek. What a lovely hotel! The courtyard garden is beautiful and very peaceful....a welcome respite for the busy, noisy streets of Thamel. The food was really good....excellent breakfast with made to order omelets and a wide choice of other foods. Dinner was excellent, too. I stayed in a deluxe room (404) and it was perfect....spacious, quiet, clean with great bed linens. Best of all is the staff! All of the staff from the front desk workers to the security men, to the "bellboys", to the wait staff were professional, helpful, cheerful, and very considerate. The waiter named Ramhari was especially sweet and kind and looked after my dining needs during my stay. This place is a gem! Enjoy your stay as much as I did!

Room Tip: Rm 404 is really a quiet room and has many advantages.

We recently stayed at the Eco Resort before and after a trek.. Our second visit to the hotel in the past year.
It's clean and comfortable.. Try to get a deluxe room because that will make all the difference between a good stay and an average one.
It has a nice courtyard garden and bar area to relax in.
Beware the word "resort" in Nepal because it may not mean the same as it does back home.
Breakfast fairly average.
The plumbing can be iffy.
Friendly staff.
Are there better places to stay in Thamel for a little bit more money? Yes.
Would I stay there again? Happily.

I stayed in thamel eco before and after trekking. The location was great, you can relax from the chaotic thamel streets, but the shopping area still in walking distance. The hotel has a little garden inside, nice place to hangout with some beers (: The room was clean and comfortable. They also have rooms with shared bathroom on the 4rd floor, its cheaper. 1 bathroom is shared for 2rooms so it still clean, the problem is when i was there... The toilet flush was broken... I hope they fix it now... If it was not because the broken flush, i would definetly choose that room for my next stay. The breakfast is oke, nothing special... The staffs are very friendly and helpfull. U can ask about anything you want to do in kathmandu.

We stayed at Thamel Eco Resort in a Deluxe Double and were very happy with the room and service by the staff. We initially had a standard room on the 1st floor, which we found noisy as it was outside the restaurant/bar seating area. After advising staff at reception, they happily changed us to our requested deluxe room for our future stays. They remembered us when we returned for our future stays and were very obliging with any of our requests/queries. Staff at the bar/restaurant were also genuinely welcoming. Rooms are very clean and the tranquility of the garden/restaurant area was bliss compared to the chaos of the city outside. Congratulations to the staff for making our stay comfortable and memorable.

My son and I recently stayed here for a few days but were very grateful for the peaceful haven it provided. My son was a wee bit culture shocked with Dubai but was very appreciative to emerge into the civilised and very quaint setting of Eco resort. The service was very helpful and welcoming and they were to lengths to help us get an alternative nights accommodation when we needed one.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the meals were delicious, even a quite drink in the afternoon was pleasant in the gorgeous garden setting. I would recommend this hotel for any length of stay, great location, great place

I have never been to Nepal before, so it is hard to compare this experience to another. We only stayed in the Thamel Eco Resort in Kathmandu prior to our trek and after. Our first room was poorly lit and small, but it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was an all-in-one scenario, but we did have a hot shower, just remember to close the toilet seat and put the toilet paper away from shower spray. Upon our return to the hotel after our trek, we stayed on the ground floor. This room was larger, and we had a tub!
The staff is wonderful. The food is pretty good as well. Yoga room is calm with its low beamed ceilings and breezes drifting in through open windows.
Location is great. Not sure I could have found it without help, but that is part of why it is so great, quiet and lovely spot.
If you are visiting Nepal for the first time, do not be surprised by lack of electricity or wifi. It does come back, but typically when it is dark.
I would recommend this hotel for those who like a little quiet and on a budget.
