Nice but dirty place. You have a nice view over Kathmandu and will see many monkeys. It is take the stairs all the way to the stupa in stead of taking a taxi.

“Swoyambhunath Stupa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2014

The world’s most glorious Buddhist Chaityas built 2000 years ago is situated on a hillock about 77 meter above the level of Kathmandu valley. Visitors will also have a grand view of the valley from this spot.

“A Must Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2014

The temple is gorgeous. The best part is that you have a 360 degree view of Kathmandu from here.
You will be required to climb say about 250 steps but completely worth it.

“Swayambunath Temple”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2014

Good to spend some time. Peaceful and worth the visit. The vendors encourage you to buy eatables for monkeys and the monkeys look forward from every visitor something to eat. Avoid buying and the monkeys avoid you, anything in hand they expect you to share with them. Be careful with cameras and mobiles.

very hot during a sunny day but good to take photos. The city looks nice from the top and you get varieties of arts and crafts with local artists exhibiting their skill. Feel free to bargain and buy.

Worth spending the time. The rest rooms are supposed to be free for tourists, willingly give them some money or ignore them if they demand money raising their voice.
