“Amazing Views!”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

This stupa sports the original "Buddha Eyes" (or so I was told). The shops at the top are friendly, although not as pushy as other places (like Bhaktapur). We ran into a few people who wanted to take pictures of us, but nothing major. The view from the top stupa is spectacular! The three statues at the base are also beautiful and huge! Definitely a site to see.

“The most liked sacred places nearby Kathmandu”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Situated on a hillock near Kathmandu, it gives a birds eye view of the Kathmandu city. The main temple surrounded by multiple prayer wheels with the colorful ribbons swaying with the wind is a sight to remember. If you are lucky, you can witness one of the traditional Nepali Bansuri (Flute) bands playing & participating in the religious rituals there, which I got a chance to witness. Tip: The temple is quiet uphill, but small cars go up to the finals steps of the temples so those who can not climb up large number of stairs, can go by car up to the last steps.

“A feast for all senses”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Climb up the steep, series of steps to the top where you will find glorious views of Kathmandu on a clear day as well as infinite carvings, magical prayer wheels, incense, aggressive monkeys, crowds of visitors, music and all this under the watchful eyes of the Buddha. An experience that is not to be missed.

“Come early/late”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

Still nice to walk around but Busy with tourists a d shopkeepers. Come early or late so it will be a bit more quiet. The stalls are very expensive. Still it is a nice place to sit and watch things happening here.

“Was expecting more”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

From what I heard, I thought it was going to be a magical and spiritual place with monkeys, and it was a real disappointment. A lot of steps- some not so even so not so safe for people, and lots and lots of tourists- more so than Boudhanath Stupa. Not many monkeys, which was a disappointment to me. It was just ok but if you've never been to Kathmandu I'd still suggest a visit.
