Down a little alleyway was this delightful restaurant with a great array of dishes to try. I loved their hummus and went back a number of times for it.

I have been to Gaia many many times and it never fails to please, after eating Nepali food for a few days I always go there to get my steak fix...great tender steaks and mushroom sauce..wow.

Staff are super friendly and super funny, most of the boys are students and speak good English..

Gaia restaurant is to find in a side street of Jyatha Marg, named Brahma Kumari Marg. At daytime and in the evening they placed a portable white sign at the left site of the street which is during the evening lighted.
This restaurant is a very nice one with a cozy peaceful garden within a lot of green and flowering plants around, nice sized chairs with pillows and wooden tables. A part of the tables outside do have also a big sun umbrella and some other tables you can find under a nice wooden build roof covered with roof tiles.
Indoors you have the part of the restaurant which is supplied by a heater which warmth you during the cold evenings. During the cold winter months they also have each evening an open wood fire basket in the outside part of the restaurant which gives the guests warmth and a nice opportunity to meet other people around this fire.
At the moment you can find a Christmas tree outside in the garden and inside in the restaurant. During both Christmas days they provide Christmas Candlelight (6 stages) diner for reasonable prices of Rs 890/1190 (vegetarian/non vegetarian).
The food they provide is reliable and always very nice and tasty ….and for reasonable prices. Also the drinks they offer are mostly made from at the market available fresh fruits and recommendable. They have also tasty drinks made from herbs. And the coffee is fresh made organic coffee, from good quality (much better then most of other restaurants in Thamel) and for only Rs 70 pro large cup; you cannot neglect it.
The waiters, the restaurant owners, the kitchen personal and the house keeping personal are all very friendly, smiling and helpful. Each time we visit this restaurant (almost each day during our stay in Kathmandu) we feel much welcome and at home.
To use the computer is not a problem at all in this restaurant. They have WiFi inside and outside in the garden and a back-up system for electricity at the moments there is no electricity during load-sheddings.
Gaia is a restaurant to come back many times for the experience of a nice peaceful ambiance with good food for a reasonable price, served by friendly staff.

We had dinner here one night as we were staying close by and didn't want to walk very far. Service was prompt enough considering it looked like they were having a busy night. The food was alright but nothing spectacular.

Reliable food at a reasonable price. Good coffee and great masala tea. Clean. Open early til late. Deservedly popular and hence busy.
