You are transported back on time wheel. From religious point of view also. and you can have a nice view of the town from the top. Buy local ornamental and decorative items from the numerous good shops on the way

“Visiting Nepal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

The Great Stupa of Boudhanath is approximately 6kms from the centre of Kathmandu.it is an amazing place full of little shops & roof top cafe's that overlook the Stupa.
Whilst we were there yesterday there was a monk's ceremony with heaps of chanting & drinking some kind of milk as we viewed the scene from a roof top cafe.
Lunch @ Th Cafe Tempo was excellent, great views to see the Stupa, excellent food @ a heap price & friendly service.
Hightly recommended.
We had lunch the day before @ Hotel Padma also overlooking the Stupa & it was not as good.Much more expensive albeit the service & views of the Stupa were great.
Many small sops where one has to bargain extensively, otherwise The prices are high.
People are very friendly?
Traffic in Kathmandu is frenetic, yet we have saw no accidents @ all.
Lots of dented cars,1000's of motor bikes & push bikes.
Roads are terrible, dirty & dusty, yet the place has an excitement all it's own.
We highly recommend Kathmandu & the Great Stupa of Boudhanath as worth going to see.

“Beautiful stupa--a must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

Bodnath Stupa is a beautiful structure and iconic of Kathmandu and Nepal. The stupa is massive and surrounded by tons of shops and restaurants, a busy hive of activity. We visited around noon and there were hundreds of monks attending a prayer ceremony at the stupa. Walk clockwise around it for a great experience. Admission is NRP 150 for non-SAARC, which is a steal in comparison to other sites in these area. Highly recommend!

“Lovely Buddhist Stupa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

There is a serene purity to this temple that I found nowhere else in Kathmandu. No merchants are allowed on the stupa itself (different from Swayambhunath) which cuts down on the carnival atmosphere. It's lovely to walk around, but even better is to sit in one of the restaurants that surround the site and watch tourist and pilgrims alike walk around it, many of them turning the prayer wheels as they go.

Don't miss this if you are Kathmandu.

“atmospheric place”

A great place to soak up the atmosphere of Kathmandu. The devout circle the Stupa in a clockwise direction- many people, men and women, yound and old, in traditional and western dress. Wonderful
