Owner description: Bouddhanath stupa is the most liked sightseeing place in Kathmandu. Visitors are required to pay NRs. 250(Foreign Nationals) NRs. 50 (SAARC Nationals) NRs. 250 (Chinese) per person (Below 10 years free) as entrance fees to the Bouddhanath. A lot of Tibetan people reside around the Stupa. And it is very famous and holy place specially of Buddhists People. It is one of the most popular world heritage site of Nepal. The stupa is huge, and beautifully decorated with prayer flags, flowers, lights and greenery. Surrounded by shops, the courtyard is a quiet destination in a chaotic corner of the city - the shops are fairly priced and tended by non-aggressive personnel. There are mountain views visible from the rooftops. A lovely place to visit.

A mixture of spirituality and commercialism but one has to go there to witness the devotion of the pilgrims as they walk around the stupa turning the prayer wheels as they go. Great place to sit and people watch.

I've been to Tibet and many Tibetan parts of China, and this was a really relaxing activity, particularly after the overwhelming impact Pashupatinath had on me a short while before. Even in the rain I walked around and around with the pilgrims until I lost count. Lots of decent and bad shops alike littering the lining, but it's all about the sights sound smells and people there. Don't miss it.

Difficult to find the entrance to the square, so ask the taxi driver to drop you at the entrance. Make sure you walk round "clockwise" !! And after you're finished, end up With coffe or lunch at one of the rooftop restaurants. Perhaps Roadhouse Cafe where we havd an excellent beer and pizza 1

Also known as little Tibet settled by Tibetan refugees circumambulating with innumerable shops selling Tibetan handicraft , Jewellery , Thankas and carpets.

We loved the atmosphere, going to different Buddhist monasteries, pigeons for kids and monks and tourists! We went to different shops but we were not able to buy anything in the area because of the high prices compared to different shops in Kathmandu - highly touristic area. Of course, shopping could be an option for most of the tourists!

Great fun for the family - lots to do at small fee!
