This place is just so amazing. Your senses are overwhelmed by the experience. The size of the stupa is stunning. The ambience around it is also very friendly, welcoming, and colorful. A one of a kind experience!

“Lovely place to visit day or evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

In the evening candles are lit all around the stupa for the faithful using the prayer wheels. There is a lovely family atmosphere and the smell of incense. Buddhist monks do the circuit along with regular people. The Paradise Restaurant on a rooftop of the square is a great place to watch the festivities while enjoying a drink or meal.

“Feeling Buddha, with Calmness”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

This is a incredible place. Not crowdy most of the time and days of the year as it is traditionally run by Tibetan Buddhists. The restaurants around the stupa but inside the main area have good scenic view of the Stupa and the mountains near the valley.

“Powerful place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

Go there, experience it for yourself. The blessings, the smell of incense, the brightly colored Tibetan dresses, the Pigeons, the dogs, the shops, the people. I could go on but I won't.Go early morning to see masses people doing Kora and go again in the evening when the stupa is lit up with thousands of butter lamps.Explore the shops where you'll find lots of lovely gifts and dharma items as well as antiques if you know what you're looking for.

“The largest stupa in Asia”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

This is a very colourful place to go. The shops surrounding the site are brightly coloured, their wares are brightly coloured and the flags around the stupa are primary colours. Music and incense were all aroundso all your senses are assailed! It's certainly worth a trip if only for the sheer size .
