“Do not miss this”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

For me this is the best site in Kathmandu to visit because of the peace and calm brought about by the Tibetan Buddhist influence. I recommend this as an excelent place to eat in one of the many restaurants overlooking the stupa.
One word of warning; there are lots of pigeons and their droppings can be very accurate.

“Nice”

Calm and peaceful place. Arguably one of the biggest stupas with a lot of religious significance. The shops around the stupa are more interesting though.

“One of the most powerful holy places in the world...”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

I lived in the vicinity of the Bodnath Stupa for a period of about two years. It is without a doubt one of the most awe inspiring and powerful places one can ever visit. Once you become accustomed to the beggars and street vendors that are ever present throughout South East Asia you can really start to feel the energy of the place. Spiritual practice and mediation are encouraged and often enhance by the amazing setting. Take plenty of time to visit the Tibetan monasteries, shops, and cafes around the stupa as they are the most authentic window into Tibetan culture to be found anywhere outside of Tibet. As others have mentioned, full moon, new moon and special Buddhist holidays are always extra busy and there are often interesting performances or religious ceremonies going on. A visit to Bodnath is a worthwhile experience for people of all faiths but especially powerful for Buddhists.
