“Full Moon at Boudha”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

The best time to visit Boudha is when there is a special occasion, like the full moon evenings, the last day of the Tibetan month, all the month of Saka Dawa or Tibetan new year. The Stupa is very special and even people visiting for the first time, feel a special energy.

“Worth The Walk from Kathmandu”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

This site is definitely worth the walk to see. Its nice to walk around the stupa, and there are several nice cafes for lunch where you can enjoy the scene from a terrace. Don't skip it.

“A real gem in the city”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

If you only have time to visit one site in Kathmandu, this should be it. Boudhanath is a revered Buddhist site, and it is one of the largest stupas in the world. The place is beautiful, peaceful (even with the locals and tourists strolling about) and awe-inspiring.

Entrance fee for foreign tourists is 150 Nepalese rupees (less than USD 2), which kinda shocked me, because the fee is so small for such a beautiful place. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site to boot, and so one must not definitely miss seeing the Boudhanath.

Had a leisurely stroll here with my friend Madan, and I quite enjoyed looking around at the souvenir shops, which surround the entire stupa. Because I visited during the monsoon season, we encountered a light rainshower, which wasn't really much of a hassle since there are these quaint cafes beside the souvenir shop where you can sit and have coffee while waiting out the rain.

Boudhanath Stupa is a lovely place, and everyone visiting Kathmandu should go see it.
