“Stayed with two small kids and loved it”
Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

We stayed as a family with two small children (6&8 years old) for a week and loved it. The roof terrace gives a great view over Kathmandu and the location is great ... just on the edge of Thamel, close enough to walk everywhere, yet a bit away from the noise.

The rooms were clean and the family that runs the place was extremely helpful in all regards. All in all a good recommendation and we would surely stay here again.

We had an AMAZING stay in Asmita B&B. We were warm welcomed by Dharma and Asmita. This place is a small family business, which makes it very personal, and gives it a cosy homefeeling.

The rooms are very clean and fresh decorated. The breakfast was very complete and good. There's a good wifi connection and there's always basic electricity thanks to an extra battery from the b&b, when there's a powercut in the city.

They can help you with lots of stuff for your Nepal trip.
We had a 5day trek arranged through Dharma (who is very experienced in treks!). It was a great experience and we had a very honest, responsible porter-guide.

Usually we don't give that often feedback at Tripadvisor, but this family really deserves it !
This was our best stay-experience in Nepal. Enjoy !

Our visit to this property din't start very well as we had arranged a airport pick up and there was nobody there with our name on board as promised. Standing outside the airport for over one hour, rejected all the advances from the touts, we were approched by somebody claiming to represent Asmita and that he had Dharma on his telephone. The name used for us was similar but Nepalise pronunciation still didn't totally convince us. The journey therefore to the accommodation was with some trepidation in case we were taken to a totallly different property. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Dharma who apologised for the problem but when introduced to Asmita she was adamant that we had informed her of a different flight arrival time. Checking previous emails we had been correct and they had recorded an incorrect time in the diary. If arranging airport pick up confirm you arrival time in advance.

We had booked the top floor Everest room with a private bathroom which turned out to be accessed via the roof terrace and not from the bedroom. On two occasions we were unable to use the facility because an other guest had been allowed to sleep on the roof in a tent so need to use the bathroom. This seemed a little unfair having paid for a room with ensuite.

The rooms were clean and spacious and even through 'load shedding' (power cuts) the property had a battery back up to provide some lighting and internet access.

This B&B appears not to be run by Asmita and Dharma as we only saw them on our arrival date even though we stayed 5 nights. The breakfasts/evening meals, room cleaning was undertaken by others.

The above may sound negative against the property but if I was to visit Nepal again I would stay here as it was good value for money with clean rooms and bedding.

My second visit to Asmita's B&B was perfect; Always is like living with my own family. Clean, good meal, and friendly people. I spend very great moments with all of them. I hope to be back once again.

My partner and I stayed here end of November 2012. It was a quiet and homely stay within noisy Thamel. The family was very nice and answered all our questions about getting around in the city, etc. Breakfast was sufficient to start our day and the rooms were very clean. I struggled to cope with Kathmandu's honking and pollution and found comfort in this B&B each time we arrived! Also, the bathrooms are shared at each floor (2 rooms per bathroom) but it wasn't a problem to share while we were there (stayed about 4 nights all up); it was always free and clean. Wifi was a bit unreliable as power kept switching off but I think that is everywhere in Nepal.. overall recommend it!

Kathmandu is a big dusty dirty city (which we still loved anyways). Asmitas B&B is the perfect base to see all of the sights. The rooms are clean and spacious, as are the bathrooms. The owners are welcoming, and very sweet. The rooftop belcony has amazing views over the city, and is a great place to relax in the afternoons. There are four rooms. Two rooms share one bathroom (which we had) ($20/ night inc breakfast), and the other two rooms have there own bathrooms ($25/ night inc breakfast). The shared bathroom was never a problem, and it was always clean. It is in a great location in the northern part of Thamel, just away from the craziness. We stayed here twice, once before our trek, and then once after. We were able to keep our bags in their storage room for free. Breakfast is simple, with toast and omlette, plus tea/coffee, a little cake, and a banana. We also booked a mountain flight through them, and it was great. I highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: All rooms are good!
