As a fellow travller, here are the key facts you need to know:
- the rooms are exactly as pictured. Spacious and well maintained
- breakfast is very tasty. We got eggs, toast with butter and jam and stir fry vegetables. Enough to fill you up till lunch
- they can help you get a SIM card at a very good price so you won't be hustled. It's a small place just around the corner
- you can arrange tours through their affiliate tour company with decent prices and great service. We booked an Everest Base Camp tour with them. They will let you leave your luggage while you trek.
- it says check in is until 11pm but someone is actually available 24 hours
- they are very responsive to booking queries
- if you arrive during the day, a taxi pick up from the airport is possible
- tea and coffee is always free and they will make this for you whenever you want. Definitely try the Nepali tea with milk!
- After 6pm the side carts usually start to open selling cheap momos nearby
- it's a short walk to Thamel, about 10 minutes. It's good because you are away from all of the noise
- It's a fairly new hostel, family run, and they work hard to make sure that all their guests are well looked after. Anything you need, they'll be able to help.

It was our first time in Nepal and everyone at Gurung's home helped to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. It's very fairly priced for the quality and size of room you will get. Because of all the beautiful trees surrounding the hostel, it's quite difficult to get a good overall shot. The photos on booking sites are spot on.

Perfect for any traveller
About 850NPR from airport by taxi.
Friendly welcome by Santosh aka mad boss, who is a bundle of energy.
Great Nepalese tea welcome.
Stayed in the Deluxe room, exceptionally clean, lots of space, very well priced.

Free drinking water available was a grewt convenience. Free morning breakfast was a big win too.
Cosy place to meet other travellers.
Santosh also took us to get a sim card to make sure we werent getting ripped. Great service.
His Momo recommendation was also on point, no complaints.

Gurung himself is a man of many talents and also very friendly.
Krishna, the in house tour agent, gave some great advice, and we ended up negotiating a trek with him.

Walking distance to Thamel, the main city area, makes it a great way to see more local culture. Would prefer this any day.

I have stayed at this hotel twice. This house is located a little further from the noisy Thamel. But very accessible to walk. I love this place. There is always quiet and comfortable. Thank you Gurung!

Gurung's home is just outside of Thamel and hence it is muhh quieter than the busy streets of Thamel. In 10 minutes you can reach all the nice bars, restaurants and shop you may be looking for.
The room is clean, breakfast is nice and the whole family makes you feel at home and helps with everything. Would definitely come back here!

Just arrived in Nepal and had a lovely stay at Gurungs Home. It is just outside Thamel so you don't get the chaos. At night it's nice and quiet for a good night sleep. It is a new hostel so not so busy which has its ups and downs. I had a 6 bed dorm for myself. that's definitely chill!
