Owner description: The Garden of Dreams, a neo classical historical garden, is situated in the midst of Kathmandu city, Nepal. The Garden's design has much in common with formal European gardens: paved perimeter paths, punctuated by pavilions, trellises, and various planting areas, surrounded by a sunken flower garden with a large pond at its center. It is an architectural landscape that encourages the visitor to stroll around and discover the Garden's treasures from many different vantage points.

I really loved the garden, near to Thamel, went there with my husband. So many people, couples, young teenagers, tourists... I felt a little crowd but overall nice place..

What's not to like. Grass, trees, flowering plants, birds, fountains and ostentatious architecture on the inside and utter chaos on the outside. If Thamel/Kathmandu is overwhelming you take a break here. They also have a restaurant on the grounds that we did not try but looked fine if a little expensive.

I only got to visit the place on the last day of stay in nepal. It was very beautiful and peaceful inside especially considering the sensory overload that is going around outside in the thamel. It has a very Greek kind of Architecture and the garden was beautiful too ( I was there in Feb, so not a lot of flowers to see but it was well kept). However, the restaurant inside was very expensive, I much prefered the Fire and Ice pizzeria right opposite of the garden.

it is a good time filler but it is not worth a special trip, if you are not in the area. We didn't eat there so I am not sure about the quality of the restaurant.

The garden of dreams is perfect for a quiet read and escape from the crazy Thamel streets. For 200 rupees, once you're in you wouldn't believe that the main road is right next door. Take a picnic, a good book and chill.
