Owner description: The Garden of Dreams, a neo classical historical garden, is situated in the midst of Kathmandu city, Nepal. The Garden's design has much in common with formal European gardens: paved perimeter paths, punctuated by pavilions, trellises, and various planting areas, surrounded by a sunken flower garden with a large pond at its center. It is an architectural landscape that encourages the visitor to stroll around and discover the Garden's treasures from many different vantage points.

If this garden was in a western country, it will be quite average. But set in the chaos of Thamel, it becomes an oasis. We had food at the Kaiser here as well which was expensive by Nepal standards but average in a western country.

This beautiful garden is an oasis in an otherwise noisy, dirty city. A real delight to sit and relax and watch the squirrels run around.

Before my girlfriend took off for France, we had our last date (for that season, of course) at the Garden of Dreams. I always wanted to check it out but I could only do it when she told me about it. Then when we were inside, I was truly amazed. I'd never seen any other garden like this before. All the other gardens we had been before were nothing compared to this one. You should not miss this place if you are in Nepal because the history that it preserves (about Kaiser and his family) is another trait of this garden.

I was really happy to be there for two hours because it was the first time ever that my girlfriend was so happy.

In one word, 'mesmerising'.

"Jardin de rêves, je vous rendrai visite de nouveau!!" Did I say it correctly? :)

The best thing about the garden is what it lacks. It is not noisy. One can breath without a face mask as there are neither thousands of motorcycles nor clouds of dirt hanging in the air. There are no stray dogs, goats, or cows. No one tries to sale you anything. It is just very peaceful and beautiful. It is a nice respite from the streets of Thamel.
