Owner description: The Garden of Dreams, a neo classical historical garden, is situated in the midst of Kathmandu city, Nepal. The Garden's design has much in common with formal European gardens: paved perimeter paths, punctuated by pavilions, trellises, and various planting areas, surrounded by a sunken flower garden with a large pond at its center. It is an architectural landscape that encourages the visitor to stroll around and discover the Garden's treasures from many different vantage points.

This was an incredible place- I still have dreams about it. Thamel can give you a huge headache after a while, and this place is ideal to get away and relax. Just order a mango juice, sit by the shady trees and relax.

An area of respite in a very busy city, it is lovely to take a book, bottle of water with you and just lie on the grass and chill out.

The garden of dreams is an escape; in the middle of Kathmandu, on the edge of Thamel, it offers some space, some green, and a chance to have noone selling anything to you. It's well worth spending an afternoon there, when you're feeling over-Thamel-ed by the chaos - which is still just round the corner, if you need anything. It's fun to go on a holiday, and watch middle-class Nepalese families and couples enjoying themselves.

We went here for lunch on our last day in Kathmandu. The food at the Kaiser Café was very good, and the atmosphere was one of joy and gaiety more than peace and quiet, as you could hear the traffic on the street outside only too well. We were there in early January and only a few azaleas were in bloom. Must be wonderful in spring!

What a great place! If Thamel gets a little too much, just stroll down the road to pop in here and relax. An amazing little oasis to recharge in.
