Food was awesome, service was great. Very unpretentious atmosphere. A wonderful place to eat while in Kathmandu, whether with friends or as a couple.

Utterly uninspiring and the antipasti was dire, salami like spam, one third of a slice of cheese on dry bread and some pickled carrot. Ok pizza, just. House wine really grim. Expensive for what it is. Perhaps we just got an off day!

It's really a pleasure to visit a place like "Délices de France" when you're in Nepal. Most of the time you don't find any of the three adjectives I've put in my title in restaurants there. I can tell you you're glad when you sit in this place and someone comes to offer you the menu proposing an aperitif with a smile, moreover someone able to describe what's in each plate and to advice you. The food is really good nothing to say about it, typical french provençale food, tasty and cook with love and good products.

Definitly a place that worth at least one dinner if you stay in KTM. But if you try it you will certainly come back...

To be completely honest, we were spurred into visiting after reading the hilarious account of a seemingly uptight Australian couple who bashed this place's coq au vin and owners. I feel entitled to a qualified opinion, being from France myself, and whilst we did not have the notorious coq au vin, everything we ordered, from entree to main to dessert, was fantastic, and the service was impeccable. We started with the pork and spinach terrine, and the "healthy salad" -- both were tasty, but the terrine was absolutely incredible and we could easily have eaten twice the generous serving -- along with the crusty baguette and the perfectly dressed green salad. Our mains -- the poulet forrestiere and the poulet aux olives -- were both succulent, with the stand-out feature being the decadent sauce forrestiere which I had to restrain myself from stealing from my partner. No dry chicken here! The sides, perfectly fried potatoes and delicately flavoured aubergines, were a treat also. We selected a Cotes du Rhone to enjoy with our meal, and out of sheer greed, we also ordered an entirely superfluous galette de sarrasin with egg, cheese and tomato, which was rapidly dispatched despite our full stomachs. Finally, who could resist the temptation of the dessert tasting plate -- the winner of which was the rum-soaked banana gratin. As we were finishing, the owner dropped by our romantically candle-lit table to say Hi, and was perfectly amicable -- no complaints here. As a side note, I really appreciate the effort in using local and organic produce wherever possible without compromising quality.

Thamel caters to tourists, so if you are absolutely craving French cuisine you can give this restaurant a try. Just don't expect the same quality that you can find in France.

The menu contains French words and French items, and the food is adequate but not nearly the quality that you will be served in average actual French cafes. But that is pretty much the nature of the restaurant cuisine generally in Thamel. Lower your expectations and you can imagine that you are having a decent French meal.
