“Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

I stayed in Hotel Tenki which is owned by a very lovely, kind and down to earth person called "SHIVA". The service we got from him and his staff was absolutely fabulous. Rooms were so clean and comfortable. The hotel is located in the heart of the city called Thamel and very easy access to the shops, cafes and restaurants. The hotel food was really yummy and believe it or not I miss the vegetarian thali. Oh also if you are a coffee person then please ask for "Shiva Coffee". That coffee is the best coffee you will ever experience in Nepal. The owner of the hotel - Shiva & Kiran are very helpful and literally spend a lot of time managing and organising the Itinerary which made our trip really smooth and enjoyable. Main thing I like about Shiva is, he started his organisation called "Social Tourism Development & Research Foundation (STDRF) which is absolutely non-profit organisation. Basically this organisation is set up for developing the social tourism in Nepal and the profit goes to very good cause. Good cause means, this STDRF organisation allows the tourists to experience Nepal in it's truest of forms while assisting those communities in need. Shiva's passion for social tourism is infectious as it promotes a healthy growth of true nepalese site scenes that benefits both the foreigner and the local people. I would love to go back to the hotel if I get a chance in my life.

I stayed at Hotel Tenki in the first weeks of December 2013. Coming from Australia, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was extremely impressed. In terms of the hotel itself and the rooms, they are both clean, comfortable and well maintained. The location of the hotel is excellent, right in the heart of Thamel and it is an easy walk to shops, cafes and bars. The breakfast offered is yummy and they make a good strong coffee which is always a positive point! However, what really made the trip extra special was the staff. I have travelled a lot over the years, and I am yet to have had service from any area of hospitality like I received at Hotel Tenki. The owners Shiva and Kiran were welcoming, friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to assist in planning our trip and nothing was ever too much or too hard. Our whole sightseeing trip was organised for us by Shiva, Kiran and their team (all of whom were fantastic), with written itineraries and any extras we required. Shiva makes an excellent coffee, and I would recommend a "Shiva coffee" anytime! The other staff members were also warm and friendly, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. I loved the vegetarian thali served at the hotel and I would recommend it as a wholesome dinner option. I have made great friends with the staff at Hotel Tenki and having an opportunity to meet them is worth the stay in itself.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the 5th floor if possible.... it is the garden level that overlooks the rooftops of...

We stayed at tenki on the 6st – 8th nov.2013 Superb Experience..... Nothing better than tenki. A place to be and experience something !!! Never seen Hospitality like that before. Good ambiance. The Hotel Staff is very Nice and friendly. This was our first visit to nepal and it was indeed a memorable one, we stayed in a super deluxe Suite which was the best. I like the courtesy of sending an Indian sweet freshly made to the room after everyday cleaning of room Activities: At an additional charge, the hotel organizes activities such as sightseeing; The entire staffs (right from the General Manager to the House Cleaning staff) were extremely courteous. Over all, tenki rates among st the best of the best. I would recommend everybody just to go there once and have a time of your life with tenki people. I would just like to appreciate the staff people

When we entered the hotel lobby and got into the contact with the staff, we were close to be excited. Nice space, nice and friendly people doing their best to serve.
When we entered the room, we thought ...ok, we are in Kathmandu so we should be a bit tolerant even that there was not much light. When we entered the bathroom, we thought about the same. Then we entered another room ( our friend's one in the 2nd floor ) and we got very bad feelings. A good part of one corner was visibly damp and we immediately caught the strong smell of mold...
Than we decided to have a diner in the hotel restaurant. The room was dark, dingy and not cozy at all. And empty ... We selected the table and recognized very dirty chair and even the tablecloth... and all tables were the same !. The only think we could do was to leave the spot and find another restaurant outside.
It seems that the management of this hotel has a long journey ahead to change. We would very likely not stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: See and check your room before you move in ....

Hotel Tenki is located in the main turist place inside the Thamel spot in khatmandu! the staff was extra wellcoming and i felt that they working hard that we will fill at home! The rooms was very big and well organized, the best room is 404 :) Worth the climb to the fourth floor! the wifi work well and there is a great rooftop with an amazing view on kathmandu city my advise is to see it in the early morning or at the sunset time!
The price is normal to the great location.
I wish to visit there soon

We visited ksthmandu for our volunteer project of a school. Our organization choose this hotel for us.
We were worried about hot water and good wifi. Of course security was our another concern. We have very good experience with this place. Shiva and Kiran the owner of this hotel are very good person who always give attention to help.
I personally say if you have to stay in kathmandu go in this hotel and ask them. Price or problem no matter every thing comes in a solution.
