I had many apple pies and apple crumbles around Pokhara and the Annapurnas region, specially in mountain lodges with german and dutch bakeries. It was good. But then, I reached the not so noisy (old) Freak St and found Snowman Café. Oh boy.
First, a cozy ambient. First time I was there in the morning and noticed how the place is not-so-clean, but it was ok. In afternoon and night the soft yellow lights are on and this creates a lovely atmosphere. The walls are full of drawings and thoughts, some hippie and post-modern art, nice.
The place is famous with the locals, I was there twice (till now) and I was the only foreigner, both times.
Apple pie and apple chocolate crumble are delicious if you get them fresh - always ask! The chocolate brownie was good, but somehow I missed chocolate in the pastry. I had one spetacular milk tea and good black coffee, but in the second time the coffee was horrible - the water tasted strange and it was so soft that it was like tea.. I complained and they give me another cup, for free, but the taste was the same.
The fruit-curd shakes looks good, also.
Bad thing: the nice old man, probably the owner, really enjoy smoking inside the place (as the other locals) and he also smokes when serving your order. "Thank you for the cancer".
