This is a good place to come to sit, relax, and watch out over the streets of Thamel. The service is particularly quick, and the food isn't fantastic, but it is a pleasant place to be if you are not in a hurry.

We used Helena's a couple of times while shopping in Thamel and enjoyed the roof top facilites . The views are not exactly stunning but it's nice to get a feeling of being away from the throng of Thamel with its incessant honking motor bikes and taxis . What we really enjoyed and came back for was their apple pie which is absolutely superb - make sure you ask for it to be served warm .

The rooftop is a great place to enjoy breakfast and take in view of the city and surrounding mountains. Watch out for local birds who will fly down and grab your food when you step away for a minute.

With only hours before our return flight to Dubai to complete our shopping in Thamel, we chose Helena's for our last meal in Nepal. Not all that easy to locate, the restaurant is tucked away in a busy, narrow street, with about five flights of stairs (sorry, no elevator!) to work up an appetite before one finally reaches the rooftop dining area. Once you've caught your breath, the reward is a stunning view across the city and the Kathmandu Valley with a spectacular backdrop of hills with their peaks shrouded in clouds. Service was courteous and attentive - if just a little slow - but the chicken biryani we ordered was subtly spiced, plentiful and absolutely delicious, complemented by excellent, locally brewed Gorkha beer - a real culinary milestone and a great conclusion to a memorable visit!

I'm a big fan of cheap indian eats and this place was some of the best I've tried. The cost was around 15 USD and we ate like kings. This place is a must try if you are in Kathmandu, the Kati rolls are great and the indian breads are excellent with a Dhal.

Only downside is the speed the food comes out, other than that its great
