We went for dinner (couple) in September after reading reviews about the place.
There are two options, western and nepali banquette, we opted for the latter.

The whole experience is something to try in Kathmandu, it is not cheap even for western standards, about $100 per head without alcohol but the atmosphere, the service and the amazing food will give you a memory to remember.

Having said that, it is still dinner after all, so if your budget doesn't allow for indulgent experiences, there are lots of good places to eat in Kathmandu, this really is the best of the best in Kathmandu.

Dwarika is certainly a very good hotel, with plenty of typical architecture and a taste of what must have been Kathmandu in its golden ages. The restaurant is good, a tag overpriced maybe, but the service is exce
Lent.

I recently had a 6 course dinner at the Dwarika's hotel Resturant. It was the best food in Nepal and an example of Nepalis hospitality. The menus on offer were 6, 9,12 or 15 courses. The setting of the dinning room was elegant, with low level tables and chairs. The service was superb, the attention was perfect and not intrusive. I have a wheat allergy which was no problem. The chef made special dishes just for me at no extra cost.
The food was very well presented and quite delicious. We were very impressed with the whole experience

On my last night in town friends took us the Friday Night Barbecue Buffet. Grilling on wood or charcoal was something I had not encountered my entire time in Nepal but they definitely know how to do it at Dwarika's. The grilled lamb offal was my favorite, spectacularly prepared. The deserts were great too. My friends crammed themselves with three plates full and proceeded to complain about how stuffed they felt. I was initially warned it would cost some $40 each which is extremely expensive by Nepal standards but it ended up being $25 each, well worth it. It doesn't hurt how beautiful the hotel and grounds are.
