We spent two nights there at the end of our trip to Nepal. A real haven from the traffic and pollution of central Kathmandu. The owners and staff were very friendly and clearly enjoyed having guests. We were made to feel almost part of the family. The food was excellent . Breakfast was served on a sunny terrace with a wonderful sweeping view over Kathmandu. Of the walks around the cottage we would particularly recommend going into the National Park where there is unspoilt forest. The only point that would be guests should bear in mind is that to reach the cottage there is quite a climb on foot with steps at the end.

Me and my girlfriend stayed there just for two nights and it was perfect in every way.
The location is good, the food tastes great and the two dogs are awesome. All the people working there are obviously liking it - what makes the stay even more enjoyable.
We would definately come back!

We spent two very relaxing nights ,in mid February,in this tranquil refuge from the frenetic activity of the city. Our room was in the main house and had it's own terrace with a spectacular view over the Kathmandu valley and the surrounding mountains. The food and general level of hospitality were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the guided walking from the cottages. We would love to stay again

This year I spent Christmas abroad for the first time, and what a fantastic experience it was! We stayed in a few different places around Nepal but Christmas celebrations were had at Shivapuri Heights Cottages. Having experienced the hustle and bustle of central Kathmandu, it was so refreshing to spend time in a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere up in the mountains. The view of the valley below was breathtaking. The cottages themselves were very homely and every furnishing added to its charming Nepali character. The staff were very efficient, yet discreet: their 'finishing touches' really made the stay special, and the chef always provided delicious authentic dishes.

During our visit to Nepal last year, every time we got a bit overwhelmed by the traffic, hustle and bustle of Kathmandu city we escaped to Shivapuri Height Cottages. Here we could admire the bird's eye view of the beautiful valley and light from a tangible distance and enjoy the clean fresh mountain air in lovely peaceful surroundings. Neeru and Steve are great hosts and are much involved in the welfare and education of the local youth. Apart from the great view, Shivapuri height is suitably located for bird watching. A pair of binoculars will reveal the richness of colours and surprisingly large number of bird species. For young naturalists the woodland surrounding the cottage alone is an Aladdin’s cave of excitements. Accommodation is tasteful, comfortable, clean and luxurious. Nepalese food served in the Shivapuri is delicious and should you be interested the knowledgeable staff are eager to help you with the fascinating cultural and historical info about the food. Shivapuri is a small family enterprise/home so securing a room to stay can be difficult with short notice. Book in advance or book for the evening meal to enjoy the ambience and friendly atmosphere with great meals. Finally, do not forget to organise your transport back or at least ask Steve or Neeru for advice.

My wife and I spent two nights at the cottage at both the beginning and end of our trip to Nepal. We loved the ability to head down to the central city to see the sites then escape up into the mountains for some much needed peace again as the city is pretty intense when one is not used to it! The staff made us feel extremely welcome and the food was excellent with great views of the city. Our only single complaint was that it was a bumpy and tiring trip from town as the road was being updated but pretty soon it will be finished and even easier to head down to town and then escape again!
We also really appreciated the tour company which was part of the cottage service as it was really tricky for us to book flights to Pokhara from outside Nepal. They arranged all of these without need for payment and total trust that we would sort that out when we came to stay, which we really appreciated as usually for that type of service an upfront payment is required.
Overall a wonderful experience and yummy home grown oranges ;-)

Room Tip: We were lucky as they gave us our own wee cottage down the bottom so we had our own wee lounge, heat...

Amazing hotel with a breathtaking view on Kathmadu valley. Room are clean, comfortable and decorated with taste. Hotel staff and owner are really friendly.
Little remark: it would be better to have a credit card machine to process payments by card as it was a headache to find a mean to pay without it especially because I run out of cash.
