This legendary old restaurant is worth a stop for dinner or a hearty lunch. No need to worry about a menu, they only serve one thing. Fried chicken. Well, and all the things that go with it--for $13.99. It's just like the best Sunday dinner you ever had at Grandma's house--or the dinner you wish she had cooked for you. Once you're seated the dishes start appearing at your table--cottage cheese, sweet & sour coleslaw, spiced apples. Then here come the biscuits, butter and homemade jam. Next they bring the mashed potatoes, the gravy, the creamed corn, and the fried chicken. You can have more of anything except the chicken. Dessert is ice cream, I think, but I'm always too full to have it. And they do offer pie for a small up-charge. Wine is available as well. As you leave there's a small gift shop area.
Service is speedy, warm and friendly. I strongly suggest you call ahead for a reservations even if you're already on your way over. Closed Monday and Tuesdays.
