This legendary old restaurant is worth a stop for dinner or a hearty lunch. No need to worry about a menu, they only serve one thing. Fried chicken. Well, and all the things that go with it--for $13.99. It's just like the best Sunday dinner you ever had at Grandma's house--or the dinner you wish she had cooked for you. Once you're seated the dishes start appearing at your table--cottage cheese, sweet & sour coleslaw, spiced apples. Then here come the biscuits, butter and homemade jam. Next they bring the mashed potatoes, the gravy, the creamed corn, and the fried chicken. You can have more of anything except the chicken. Dessert is ice cream, I think, but I'm always too full to have it. And they do offer pie for a small up-charge. Wine is available as well. As you leave there's a small gift shop area.
Service is speedy, warm and friendly. I strongly suggest you call ahead for a reservations even if you're already on your way over. Closed Monday and Tuesdays.

Family style chicken dinner with all the fixins. Don't forget to save room for the ice cream.

We had heard about the food at the Brookville Hotel, and the food did not disappoint. The fried chicken (I believe the only entree choice) was excellent. But the coleslaw was like dessert. Really! You can even buy postcards with the recipes for the coleslaw and the corn. (We did!) Service and atmosphere were fine, but the reason to come here is for the delicious family-style food.

If you want healthy, green food, forget it -- you'll agree with the one "poor" rating already on TripAdvisor. But for great tasting, high carb, high cholesterol food -- you'll love it.

Besides the reviews on TripAdvisor, be sure to check out www.brookvillehotel.com for pictures, menu, hours, and prices. Note that lunch is only served on Sat & Sun; dinner is served Weds through Sun. Winter hours (Jan-Mar) vary from this normal schedule. Reservations are recommended.

The fried chicken is tender and moist. Everything was delicious. Like another reviewer, I normally don't like slaw but the Brookville's slaw is great. The secret? It is made with whipped cream! Proof that even something normally healthy can become deliciously unhealthy!

We followed the crowd to the Brookville Hotel on a recent Friday night. The menu is very limited - fried chicken, creamed corn, creamed potatoes, creamed cold slaw. Get the drift. The seven food groups is an unknown subject here. No green vegitables or salads available.

Warning - lactose intolerant travelers shouldn't bother asking for suggestions. The only alternative is McDonalds.
