We enjoyed our meal at the Brookville Hotel. Even though the chicken was fried it was delicious. They offer to many starches. A nice lettuce salad and green beans would have made the meal complete and added color to the meal. The corn and slaw was a little to sweet for us. The different rooms to eat in was very nice and everyone was so friendly. You can't eat there very often because of the amount of food but it was worth it. We will go back in time.

I had the pleasure of eating at the original Brookville resturant and the experience of eating the new place in Abiline. While Abiline is good, it doesn't stand up to the original. The original was pan fried chicken-the new place uses deep fat fryers-not the same. It went from a quaint, off the main path jewell to a modern, interstate highway resturant without atmosphere or "karma". Still, as far as family style fried chicken (and only fried chicken) suppers, It's still worth it.

When you go to the Brookville Hotel you know what you are going to get--fresh cucumber pickles, creamy cole slaw, creamed corn, mashed potatoes and gravy and lots of crispy fried chicken. Finish all that up with some vanilla ice cream, and you have a delicious meal. The dining rooms are all big and decorated in an old country look. Service was excellent.

OMG, they will bring it if you can eat it. A quaint restaurant that only serves chicken. The best coleslaw I have ever tasted! Service perfect, chicken hot, no menu! A bit of history, wonderfully run!
So happy we got to experience it!

This place is a replica of the original located in Brookville, Kansas. The original was very historic going back to cattle drives and railheads. It was called Brookville Hotel Fried Chicken and was supported by famlies out of Salina, Smokey Hill and Shilling Air Base and nearby towns dining on chicken on the weekend and at family gatherings. What you are seeing is a replica. They moved here to try and get more business. That is why you get people traveling who pull off the highway expecting a full menue, only to find chicken served family style. It was a bad move in my opinion ignoring history and creating marketing confusion. The menue has gone downhill from the 1950s and 1960's when they truly served home cooked foods- made their own ice cream, pickled peaches, pickles, corn relish etc. I went there all the time as a child, knew Mrs. Martin and believe it is still in the family. Realize you cannot serve masses those foods today, what with laws etc, but you could at least serve fresh fried chicken instead of the stale I was served. The service can be surly- they build right off the highway and advertize with roadside signs, then throw a fit when you drop in for dinner. If you didn't want non reservation why build by the highway?
