First, I loved Bhutan - it's a gorgeous country. If you have a chance to go, you should do it. This hotel is located right in the heart of downtown, so it offers a perfect location to start a walk from. There are no traffic lights so you can watch the lone police officer directing traffic from an elevated booth a few blocks from the hotel. And there are lots of shops to wander through, and several places to eat. Beds were comfortable, and the room was clean and tidy. I would definitely stay there again.

Jumolhari is a decent hotel in the heart of Timphu Town. Rooms are clean and well appointed, though small in size. Bathrooms were clean and well kept.

Eventhough Timphu is relatively cool place, the hotel was unusually warm and I wished there was aircon in the rooms.and restaurant.

I had mixed experience with staff. They were not attentive or did not care too much about their guest. We had an early check out and had specifically requested for an early check out and breakfast. Eventhough the order was placed we were told that we can have our breakfast at 6.30, I went down to see a locked restaurant and a grumpy front desk staff who looked annoyed. We were getting ready to leave without breakfast and at the last moment the kitchen opened and they offered us porridge, bread and eggs which was what we asked for. This however delayed our check out.

Restaurant is fine and serves decent food. Initially the staff offered us saying they had fixed menu and only Indian cuisine was available. A little bit of talking helped and they opened up and offered to take orders for dinner and they served very decent baked fish.

Sleep quality depends on the room that one might get. Ours were towards the entrance side of the hotel on the first floor. In the night there will be a lot of noise as people will be hanging out outside the hotel from nearby night clubs. This could be annoying as the windows are not sound proof.

Overall its a good option to stay if you want to stay in downtown Timphu. Do not expect much though. It would be perfect if they had self check in and check out.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from the front side of the hotel.

It is a nice hotel to stay, if you are on a visit to Thimphu.
Centrally located, just in the midst of the town, next to the all famous Druk Hotel. Quite reasonable as well, and food is also nice.

Rooms were also clean, and front-office staff were friendly as well.

Wi-Fi was also fine, with no problems. I would suggest if you are here for travel, or a short stay jsut to roam around in Thimphu, it is the best place to stay.

Our small group of ten stayed here several nights during two weeks in Bhutan. I loved the central location which made it easy to window shop and find souvenirs and little things I needed. We'd been warned about how the dogs like barking all night so I was prepared with good earplugs. Food was fine. Room was clean and there was an elevator when I was too weary to walk. The staff members were friendly. Good laundry service. Yes, I'd stay there again.(Sept. 2009)

Small, modern, good facilities, including business and massage, good staff, view of rubbish dump from bedroom offputting though and noisy dogs. Food, as usual, lukewarm and beer too!

Stayed in Jumolhari Hotel in 2006 when it was new and it was a good experience.

Stayed again in February 2012 and it was dissapointing. The bathrooms are in need of refurbishment. Both shower and sink taps were practically falling off. Very little hot water - had to run the taps for almost 10 mins before it become bearable, not nice in the middle of winter!

The rooms need to be better maintained and cleaned. Paint was peeling in the room, the edges of the carpets had not been cleaned. Some liquid was spilt on the tables (arranged for housekeeping to clean this, which was done promptly). Internet was very weak (even by Thimphu standards). The room was cold and drafts were creeping through the windows.

Only positive note was staff who were friendly. A good spring cleaning would do wonders for the hotel.
