Had a nice meal here with friends. My friends looked like they had a fabulous meal, and my steak was good in the way it was cooked, but the cut of meat was not the best. The price was pretty good and the setting is fabulous.

You MUST check out the elephant orpan at the entrance to the park, where they try and save orphan elephants and re-wild them.... that is an AWESOME experience....not cost, but they only survive by donation and need desperate help.

Thank you for you valid feedback. I do hope you had the chance to say something at the time so that we were able to replace your dish. Our menu is ever evolving, so I do hope you get the chance to return and try something new.

At last! A place in the Lusaka area where all can enjoy the best of Africa (people, animals, decor) with no compromise on quality and comfort. We stayed for three nights on a mini break and found it just what the doctor ordered.

The people were amazing - from the waiters and front of house to the management and owners. All were great at their jobs and were eager to be helpful beyond normal expectations. In many ways, friendly and helpful staff made the visit.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well equipped. I always think it is difficult to decorate a rondawel well - but they have managed it here. The beds were so good we took down the details and are looking for one ourselves.

Food and wine has been made the focus of the new Lilayi and this is where they really stand out. The menu is a few notches up on what you would expect in the area, and the chef manages to live up to the ambitions. The wine selection is probably the most extensive in the country and the sommelier (and owner!) really know what they are talking about when it comes to wine recommendations.

All in all, a place where we will be very confident in recommending to anyone needing to stay in the Lusaka area.

My previous visit to Lilayi was many years ago. Whilst pleasant enough it was clear the lodge required some serious renovation's.

In October this year (2013) I went again using Lilayi for overnight accommodation whilst journeying back from Livingstone to Luanshya.

What a wonderful surprise. Clearly, massive renovations had been done and the lodge is now an absolute credit to the owners/managers.

If I had one slight criticism it would be that the service is a little slow. That said, those of us who live in the wonderful continent are aware that not a lot happens quickly here.

I most definitely will choose Lilayi Lodge again when I need to "escape" for some battery re-charging.

Well done,

An easy escape from dust, noise and hubbub of the city: beautiful decor and surroundings, great food and wine cellar, attentive staff. A super place for business meetings too. The High Tea is not to be missed, and you will find yourself staying for cocktails to see the animals come down to the water. Must fit in a trip to see the baby elephants next time.

I spent the most wonderful afternoon at Lilayi. Myself and friends went for lunch. The food was the best I have tasted in Zambia and the wine was of a high quality but not over priced. The service from the staff was immaculate. We were so relaxed lunch rolled into a whole afternoon taking in the beautiful surrounding ending our trip with sundowners on the terrace watching the baby warthog strolling around. Good value, quality service and delicious food.

Thank you so much for such a great review. We have had a lot more new wildlife give birth since you visited us. Young wildebeest, plenty of antelope and even more warthogs to munch away at our lawns!
