Always keen to try new eateries we went in after a movie (9:30pm), a time we assumed numbers would be winding down but surprisingly it was still very full. Though we had wanted to sit on the terrace this was not an option as smokers had taken over and the cigars were particularly unpleasant so we beat a hasty retreat indoors.
We got our menus quickly but it was another 15 minutes before someone took our order despite there being many waiters. They seemed to be either in the kitchen or congregating at the POS terminals, hopefully this will improve with time.
The food arrived relatively quickly, a penne in arabiatta sauce and a caprese sandwich. The arabiatta sauce was too hot for my partner though i did not mind it, definitely one that requires specifying how hot you want it. The caprese sandwich was a little mean with the mozzarella but it was pleasant to see the use of fresh herbs and coupled with the fresh bread it went down a treat.
Our drinks arrived after our food with the waitress apologising profusely. The house red was so so, the quantity making up for its uneven flavour.
We are keen to try other items on the menu and will definitely be going back after allowing for a settling in period for staff and management.
