I loved my stay here. Lovely hotel, very friendly staff. Absolutely the best in Uganda. In fact, I have stayed at 3 Serena hotels and have loved all 3 - but this one is the best so far. So relaxing - you forget you are in the middle of Kampala. Its not cheap, but I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Kampala.

The restaurant breakfast and dinner buffets are quite nice. And there are 3 restaurants total (the one with the buffets, an Italian restaurant, and a reservations-only restaurant) which is nice for variety.

Laundry is terribly expensive - but that's to be expected.

The business center - it does have many computers and color printing/copying but the printer/copier has trouble with duplex printing and the color copies aren't very crisp. Oh and printing costs a fortune. I think I paid about $1 USD per page of color printing. So avoid that if you can.

There is a large mall (with a supermarket and many restaurants, etc.) really close to the hotel as well which is convenient.

The hotel is about 45 minutes from the airport (Entebbe). Airport transfer (in a BMW SUV) will cost you about $65 each way (which is too much compared to a non-hotel taxi, but its a convenient service).

It's very hard to think of anything to add to other traveller reviews. The hotel is an oasis in the middle tf a frantic city. Wonderful facilities, wonderful service, great restaurants, calm and peaceful. Perfect. Don't hesitate if you get the chance!

The Serena Kampala has pretty much everything one could wish for in a five star hotel anywhere in the world. Staff are efficient (although not quite as warm as the staff in other locations around the country), and amenities are of a high quality. It would be the perfect place to start or end a trip. Beware of rush hour traffic as the hotel is located in the city center. It's a long way from the international airport in Entebbe, so allow plenty of time for the transfer.

This hotel was incredible. From the moment of being picked up at the airport until the time we left the service was incredible. The drive from the airport to the hotel is quite long, but you have the opportunity to see a lot along the way.
When I arrived at the hotel I was in awe of the beautiful emense property. Check in was quick and effecient and the room was large, clean, bright with a balcony overlooking the city and the grounds. I received a welcome gift of a fruit basket and bottle of wine in my evening of the first night. I sent dry cleaning out for express service and had it back to me the same evening. This is unheard of in most hotels!
The fitness centre is huge, clean and modern with a sauna, steam room and dipping pool plus it is open at 5 am-11pm (great for the business traveler with irregular sleeping hours). The food at the restaurant was delicious with a lot of selection for all meals, and they were willing to do a boxed lunch when we had to check out early.
The staff was incredibly accommodating, kind and overall very attentive. I can not complain about anything during my two night stay. When I entered this hotel and after staying there I thought it would be a great escape for a family or couples vacation, for those that are interested in exploring Uganda.
Recommendations for visitiors to Kampala, go to the cultural show at the Ndera centre-ask at the conceirge and they will arrange it for you. It is an evening of music and dance and stories that will give you insight in to Ugandan history and culture. The performers for this show were often orphans and this training and performing has been a means to fund their education.

I absolutely love this hotel. It may even been my favorite hotel ever! The rooms offer every amenity--including fruit bowls and fresh flowers. The staff are friendly--from the doorman to reception to restaurant staff. The gym is terrific (although you do have to walk thru the main lobby to reach it--not one of my favorite treks), and the spa treatments are also superb. The breakfast buffet is perhaps my favorite of any hotel where I've stayed (excepted perhaps for the Conrad hotel in Istanbul, Turkey)....This hotel does not disappoint. Stay and enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool facing room.

What can I say? I've stayed at Serena hotels in Afghanistan, Zanzibar, Uganda and Rwanda, and they are all beautiful. This one happens to have the nicest pool I've ever seen at a hotel. If you can afford it, you simply cannot go wrong. I highly recommend it.

I loved the service in Serena Kampala, i stayed there for 2 days. I loved the "lake side" area-very beautiful and the water fall around the pool. The staff are great. I loved the buffet too.
