I must say . just avoid it ...... its located in a mall with a small front office and then you are led to your room through a dark staircase which sees some light only after reaching the level where is going to be your room ....... keys are just so wonderful that you will have to highlight the room number on the card before you end up trying your card on some other door ..... service is poor as they don't have any staff ..... the charges include breakfast in their restaurant which is approximately half a kilometer far from the hotel ........ everything is so overpriced that the very next morning i bolted out of this place ......... the rooms have some peculiar stale kinda smell which is difficult to stand ..... i will never visit this place ever again .

Room Tip: naah.... don't try ....

I wanted to add a more recent review of this place. I stayed here in 2009 and recently considered staying again last week. In 2009 this place was already struggling. It was quite apparent few people stayed there and there wasn't a lot of upkeep.

I was shocked to see how fast it had deteriorated in just 2.5 years though. Most of the hotel has been closed off. They no longer offer their restaurants and the pool is closed. They have a small office in a mall which now comprises most of the building. We were led up and down dark staircases and hallways until we finally reached the rooms. They were dingy and uninhabited. It was nothing like what I saw in 2009 and even then it was deteriorating.

I would definitely not stay here even though the price is less than half of what it was in 2009. There are plenty of other better kept, quieter places in the city or outside.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I think this hotel was something special in the 80s or when it was first built. Sadly, it appears that nothing has been done to maintain the place since. It is very dark and dingy, the roof leaked into my room (and it rains heavily here), many of the staff are unhelpful and very slow, the food is full fat and fried to oblivion even if it is advertised as grilled. I stayed here to work in and around the city but unfortunately I could barely get a night's sleep due to an evangelical-clapping, stamping, yelling-meeting upstairs and a wedding party with live band next door. I put an I Pod in my ears and cried!

A shame because much of the surrounding countryside is beautiful and Uganda has a lot to offer but this is a very poor introduction to the country if it is the first place you stay.

Sorry no photos- too dark.

First visit to Uganda so I was unsure about the quality and nature of the hotels in the city. Stayed for a week in an Executive room at $75 plus tax. Can only speak highly of this hotel. Decor is a little dated and tired looking but beyond first impressions, the hotel is very clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was good and staff were excellent. Very helpful. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the city give the Equatoria a chance. Well located and good facilities.

This hotel is lovely. The staff are friendly and make you feel right at home. Security is excellent, with in room safes and people watching all entrances.

The room are starting to take on a out of date seventies look but the are comfortable and well appointed.

The buffet breakfast is excellent. The other restaurants provide good food at good prices and the service is first rate.

Other facilities, pool, gym and business centre make your stay that much more relaxing.

House keeping staff are wonderful.
